Chapter 4: Halloween Tradition

"James hurry up and get dressed your sister is waiting on you to take her trick or treating," my mom shouted to me as I put on the laziest costume ever. It was just toilet paper wrapped around my head and hands. It's been about a couple months since the whole fight and I am still uneasy with the way things went down. Yes, we won and people did get hurt, but I am still not used to this life and I start to worry if my family will be okay. School has been rough as well Coach Arrow seems to have it out for me, just recently he caught me in the halls going to the restroom and he stopped me asking me to see my hall pass. He then preceded to tell me I faked it and took me back to class which was a waste of time since Dr. King confirmed it was real. Principal Scootbottom was also acting odd his hair has been tamed which most just thought he was seeing someone. I mean how else will you explain the Einstein hair going away with an absurd amount of cologne that fills the halls when he walks by.

"Jams let's go get candy," Sarah would say as she came into his room. She was dressed as Princess Peach again for the second year in a row. I smiled down at her as I picked her up putting her on my back and walked down the stairs. "Mom is it alright if my friends join.....," reaching the bottom of the stairs, they were already there. I smiled at each of them and set Sarah down as she ran to Selena, who was dressed as Princess Daisy. Henry and Austin were doing a tag team on the Halloween costumes dressed up as Mario and Luigi. Looking over to Brooke she was Yoshi, great did I not get the memo. "Hon take off the toilet paper your costume is over there on the couch," my mom stated as she gestured. I walked over to see that I was to be dressed as Toad, "Oh come on why Toad," I said back to my mom. 

"Hush your sister wanted you to be Toad and I told you already last month because your sister wanted everyone to dress up," she said.

Oh yeah now I remember Mom had mentioned it while we were at the mall and I said that would be cool. I was exhausted from getting my ability and combat skills down that I forgot, but why Toad how come I can't be Bowser. I sighed as I walked into the restroom to get dressed coming back out as the big headed Toad. Selena laughed as she saw my shoes red and pointed like a Christmas elf. "Oh what are you laughing at Princess," she glared at the comment. At least he wasn't the only one in pain, Henry and Austin seemed fine they were the main characters which suited them because they were actual brothers. Brooke was in an inflatable costume so her face was hidden, but Selena and I were definitely going to be the bud of the jokes. "Alright kids have fun and be safe also James please take care of your sister I want you back by 9 pm no later," my mom would tell us as we left the house. 

"Man this is going to be great gonna get some candy maybe see some cool costumes," Henry would state as all of us started on the path of the neighborhood. "Hopefully we don't run into trouble," he added on. 

"We usually do around this time costumes usually gives away the wendigos since some like to just stay as themselves pretending to be in costume," Austin said bringing the issue to my attention. Damn he's right its Halloween this would be the perfect time for any creature to be out and about. Though if it does happen I'd have to be ready to run I have to think of Sarah first and her safety. Oh well for now we might as well have some fun, "Come on guys let's get this party started," we all cheered. 

The remainder of the night went very well we took Sarah to many houses she had fun. A lot of people really admired our group costumes and we took pictures for some of them. I would do anything for my little sister and if it means being dressed as the worst character in the Mario franchise than so be it. Though the jokes were pretty crazy, majority of them were because of the shoes and the khaki sweats? Or would you consider these capris, I am no sure but they looked stupid. Luckily Selena was having a bad time as well, I mean girls are supposed to wear dresses though considering there are girls out there like her who don't like to dress girly or wear bright make up it's obvious she wasn't enjoying much of it either. Though besides the teasing and awkward pictures I was having a good time and to see my little sister smiling so wide it made me happy and brought me a warm feeling.
