Chapter 6: Stakeout

It's been 2 days already since the announcement, it had been hectic with everyone getting ready for the dance. It was tomorrow and everyone was asking whoever was free for the dance. Though the parents had more issues to solve which was getting ready for the oncoming blizzard. Even my own mom was investing in gasoline to help power the generators we had for the house. She invited my friends and their families to stay with us since we had became close enough along with having a big enough house to keep everyone warm and safe. My friends were down they expressed how fun it would be to hang out for a few weeks, and how easier it would be to keep tracks on the mayor. Though over these past two days he hasn't done much just go to work, go home, and occasionally go out on dates which is something I regret watching. 

"Look guys the dance is tomorrow and I know we said we will go as a group though we need someone to keep an eye out on the mayor as well," I said as I  began to pace in my dining room.

Henry sat there with his feet up on the table eating Cheetos, while Brooke laid there on the floor still worrying about what she is wearing, Selena couldn't be bothered as she shrugged and Austin sighed as he answered, "Well Brooke's parents had offered to watch him sort of on a stakeout though her mom was asked to chaperone and we wouldn't want her dad to be alone especially if the blizzard might come early,"

"My dad is still going to the stakeout he made up his mind me and mom tried to talk him out of it but he will keep his phone charged and honestly he will be in a hotel room which is in view of the mayor's mansion so he will be out of harm's way," Brooke added on, "However what are we going to wear like are we matching as a group or just showing up in whatever,"

"Brooke just show up like how you are now I'm going in just ripped jeans and a band shirt," Henry said before he began to chug down the Cheetos emptying the bag into his mouth.

"Just wear whatever it is only a formal dance and with the boutiques being on short notice nothing fancy is going to be showing up I'm sure everyone will be dressing up casually," Selena mentioned.

"Look let's just get some sleep we have a long two days before the dance I am sure we can figure something out now goodnight guys," Austin said as he left the room. After he left one by one my friends headed to their designated room they chose to stay in while the blizzard made it's way through. Not sure why Alaska, why did we have to move to Alaska I have to worry about my family now in ways I never thought I would need to. Having to protect them and doing my best to keep them alive, now I have a mythological beast threatening to kill them what the hell did I get myself into. I sighed as I turned off the lights and made my way to my room before closing the door and heading to sleep.

Waking up the next morning, we did the normal routine before heading over to school. It was the day before the dance as we decorated the gym putting up everything we needed to. Having fun talking to other students and even talking about what everyone was going to wear. Most of us were going to be casual we had no time to wear something nice though at least a button up with khakis would do. We wondered if there would be any good music since we found out Coach was the DJ for the formal. He seemed like he would play some time of military cadences though benefit of the doubt right?

"Alright students I understand the short notice though today when the school bell rings you will gather towards your homeroom class and the teachers will hand out packets of your school work we plan on being out for at least a week with the upcoming blizzard though that does not mean to slack off we will expect these packets to be completed and returned to your homeroom teachers the first day we are back," Principal Sootbottom stated aloud to the students in the gym.

"Great not only do we get to locked in doors all week, but we still have to do homework that's a drag," Henry said as he was painting his initials on the wall something the paint was not supposed to be on.
