Chapter 8: Day After the Dance

Snow covered the ground outside sticking to the roads and any surface it could find its hands on. The group was in the West Wing of the manor, away from mom and Sarah, while we conversed on a plan. A plan that no one could actually agree on as this was life and death. The others have always been on the battlefield since they were well early teens I came to this party a bit late. Hasn't even been a year yet and I have transformed into a bear, fought two wendigos, fought a werewolf, and was threatened by both the mayor and my coach. What else is going on here, like what else will we get ourselves into. The thoughts running through my mind as the voices around me drowned out. 

"James are you going to chime in or just sit idly by while we talk this over," Austin said in his leader voice which was quite intimidating when he was being serious, and this was a serious matter.

"Oh my bad what was the plan," I said while the others looked at me. I know I should be listening more especially for Brooke's sake both of her parents are in danger. Honestly it felt like it was my fault for even suggesting they take watch over the mayor's mansion.

"We leave at night while your mom and sister are asleep, all of our parents know we are staying here so they have nothing to worry about, though we leave in the middle of the night now we know they are being held at the mayor's house where in the house no clue but you, Brooke and I will not be able to go in since we draw the most attention," Austin was talking to all of us being being interrupted by Henry.

"That's where me and Selena come in we are the smallest animals I can hide under things while Selena takes to the ceiling with the type of house it is we are sure it must have at least some vaulted ceilings for her to perch and keep an eye out," 

"Correct though regardless play it safe we know they can climb walls plus it's like walking into a bee hive you disrupt any of them and others will come, and I can't lose you two," Austin said as he looked to the two of them. They both nodded and smiled reassuring him that they would be fine.

"Wait they said they wanted us to surrender right, so why don't we just..." I began to explain an addition to the plan that came to mind.

"No because if the three of us went they would know that two are not around hence knowing that we are planning an escape,"

"Yeah but they would also be so cocky that they would think we wouldn't even try since we would be so outnumbered on their turf,"

"I said no dammit that is it that's my answer no no and no you better get with the program alright James I am not losing anyone else and this is the only way so drop it or you'll be staying here," Austin snapped. It was hard to see him so upset though he's lost so much more than everyone else, he lost his soulmate. He's already explained how he can still feel her even though she isn't there anymore. This was causing him to be overprotective more so than what he usually is. All I could do was shut up and sit back, he was the leader what he said went and the others knew that as they had their heads down. Austin called the meeting as he stood up and left the room, Brooke leaving right after him.

"James you need to chill out man you already know....,"

"Yes, yes I know Henry but seriously man we need to think of the safety of both Brooke's parents, hell I mean we already know Dr. King is missing a hand like what the hell else are we supposed to do just watch perimeter while you two go in and risk your own lives,"

"If it means less casualties than yes," Selena said as she looked at me. Her eyes filled with concern though she herself was scared she knew what this meant. Though like the rest of us even she would risk her life for both Dr. King and Mrs. King. They were like family to the group and even though we couldn't go to our own parents about this, the Kings knew more about our life than they should. Even if they knew the cost of being in this life, they had no magical properties or spiritual animals they can call upon, it had skipped that generation making it's way towards Brooke. For now we have to save them and that is exactly what we plan on doing.

The night grew cold as we were preparing ourselves for the rescue mission, Selena and Henry both left early right when midnight struck the clocks. Running out into the cold as they shifted into their forms, Selena taking to the skies while Henry stayed lowed to the ground following her as she flew above him. Using the mind link we stayed in touch with each other, "Alright we are here I'm not seeing much down here on the ground other than the occasional guard and I am not smelling death either so I guess they don't have any back up outside," Henry said through the mind link.
