Chapter 3

I was woken up by Yeva as she shook me awake "you've over slept!" She says as I sat up. "Your running late!" She says. I climbed out of bed and stretched "You can't be late everyday! Get going!" She says pulling me out of the room, once I was out of the apartment I cut a rift and appeared in the classroom right next to my desk and sat down. I got a few looks from my classmates next to me as they saw me just appear next to them. "How did he do that?" A few asked, I looked around and spotted Uzi sitting a few rows ahead of me and she didn't look good "Maybe I should do something with her after class" I thought the teacher looked around the room and noticed me at my desk "When did you get in here? And how did I miss you?" He asked to which I shrugged. He rolled his eyes and held up a piece of paper "Come get your work sheet" he says. I cut another rift and stuck my hand through it grabbing the paper and pulling it back through. "Oh you can do magic, wonderful" he says going back to his paper. The entire class looked at me in awe, I how ever didn't pay them any mind and worked on my paper which took me until class ended to finish, I went to hand it in when he gave me another one "Here's some homework for you to do, Yeva asked me to give you some so she can help you with your writing and understanding it" he says. I grab it and nod thanking him, I tucked it into my pocket as I left to find Uzi which didn't take long as I followed her scent. I found her at her locker trying to reach up and put stuff away, I walked over and picked her up so she could "Put me down!" She says swinging at me, she hit me but it didn't even hurt "Y/n! Put me down!" She says again, I listened and set her back down "Don't grab me!" She says. I nodded and motioned for her to follow me "Why do you want me to follow you?" She asked. I made a talking gesture with my hand "I'll have a hard time understanding you, you know that right?" She asked I nodded yes but still wanted her to follow me. As we made our way down the hallways I saw something that disturbed me, Doll, two of her friends, and the murder drone that killed her father where walking together. "Oh great he's hanging out with the freak" the blonde says "Why would you ever pick her to hang with?" The blue haired girl says. Uzi seemed to hide behind me, I looked at Doll and motioned with my head for her to come with us, "You really think she'll pick you and that freak over us?" The blonde asked. But much to her surprise Doll joined me, I glared at the murder drone and let out a low bellow and made a throat slit gesture at her before pulling Doll closer to me. We walked away from them and made our way to the shopping area I sniffed the air looking for a specific scent and walked around following them until I found what I was looked for, we walked into the shop "Ice cream? Seriously?" Uzi asked to which I nodded. They got there's ordered and I didn't get any once they got there we left and I cut a rift as we walked through it coming out at Dolls place "Uhh what are we doing here?" Uzi asked. I pulled them inside and saw Yeva cleaning, I made a grunt getting her attention "Oh Y/n you could have warned me you were bringing Uzi here today!" She says "Huh? He's been planning on being me here? Why?" Uzi asked "I'll explain everything, I can translate for him" Yeva says. We sat down on the couch I gestured for Yeva to explain "Uzi, Nori and I worked together when the humans were still alive here as scientists. He was our experiment. He knew your mother and they were quite close to one another, she mothered him up until the core exploded. He remembered everything she did for him and is repaying her kindness by protecting us and you. He is your guardian, and you can come to him if you ever need help" she says. Uzi blinked a few times "You knew my mom?" Uzi asked surprised. I nodded "And she acted like your mother?" She asked to which I nod, "And because she did you'll protect me?" She asked, I nodded again "So, why can't you talk?" She asked. I motioned to Yeva "When we spliced his genetics the mutations that occurred changed his vocal cords making it painful for him to speak. While he can speak its very strenuous and painful for him to, it's why he remains mute." She explains. "So what is he? He looks human but clearly isn't" Uzi asked "A monster" Doll says. Yeva slapped her on the back of her head "Don't call him that! He's no monster, he hates that name with a passion!" She says "So what is he?" Uzi asked again "It's hard to say exactly what he is, monster isn't the best way to put it but it's a fit description." She says "You said not to call him that" Uzi says "I know I did, and you shouldn't. But if you want a description of him it's the easiest way to put it" she says. "So what does this mean for me?" Uzi asked. I put an arm around her giving her a little hug. She didn't return it and instead pulled away "Y/n, Uzi isn't the physical affection kinda girl" Doll says. "Yeah, I'm not all hug and cuddle" Uzi says. I nod "Now that you understand her, Uzi Y/n's way of showing that he cares is limited it's why he is very physical with his friends and family. Just remember just because he gives you a hug or puts an arm around you it doesn't mean he wants you to return it. It's his way of asking if your okay or if you need anything" Yeva says "So can we find a middle ground somewheres?" Uzi asked. I made a gesture to Yeva and she nodded "He'll try to keep his hugs and such to a minimum, but he wants you to know he will always have time for your issues if you need him." She says "You got all of that from one gesture?" Uzi asked "I had years of experience with them, I can extrapolate entire sentences from a single gesture" she says. "Can you teach me how he asks if I'm okay? So he doesn't have to hug me?" She asked "Of course I can! It's really simple, watch" Yeva says. I made the gesture "Huh that's easy to remember, is there anything else he wants me to know?" She asked. I shook my head no "I don't need a translation for that one, I think I'll head home now. Thanks for taking me to get ice cream Y/n, and thanks for telling me about him and my mom...." Uzi trailed off "Yeva, if you need or want to know more about you mother I have plenty to share" she says "Thanks Yeva, I definitely be back soon" she says. I cut a rift and motioned for Uzi to go through, she did a I sealed it again.
