If I was dying on my knees, you would be the one to rescue me

It's been four months. Aaron had not come up with a solution to his problems yet.

He was still "dating" Elise. Leo still hadn't talked to him or responded to his calls. Amara had stopped sending funny twitter memes to the Maroon group chat. The messages of which are far and few between when there used to be texts nearly every single day.

Zachery and Oscar didn't know the full extent of what had happened between the four of them. But they saw the kiss and the lingering looks between Aaron and Leo, and now that there's five different relationship timeline articles of Aaron and Elise, they knew something was up.

Christmas was around the corner, and usually they'd be preparing to host their annual Christmas party at Amara's house. It had been tradition since the first year they knew each other. But no one was saying anything in the group chat, so there probably won't be a Christmas party this year.

The point was, the whole group is broken and it's all because of Aaron.

Knock knock.

'Yeah?' Aaron yelled through the door.

His mother poked her head in, 'Aaron, I have to plan our family's Christmas dinner. You're not free on Saturday, right?'

Saturday would be the 22nd of December, when they'd usually have their Christmas party.

'Actually, we're not having a party this year.' Aaron answered, defeated.

'Why not?'

He shrugged, 'they're busy.'

'Oh, great!' his mother smiled, 'I'll tell them we can do Saturday then. Will you be inviting Elise?'

'I dunno.'

'I think you should invite Elise,' his mother said. It was more like a command than a suggestion.

'I'll see if she's free.' Aaron muttered.

The two of them got out of Aaron's car. She was wearing a white sweater dress and boots, and Aaron couldn't be bothered to put on anything but a random hoodie and a pair of jeans.

'I know you don't like them, but you don't have to look like you just got out of bed, did you?'

Aaron rolled his eyes as he rang the doorbell, 'no one sleeps with jeans on.'

'You never know.'

The door swung open and they were greeted with the back of Alex's phone.
