CHAPTER 14: Happy

Y/N - 17 Years Old

Sei and I have been dating for a few months and his birthday was coming up so I was on full planning mode. When the day finally came, I was a nervous wreck, everything didn't look right and I was on the verge of pulling out my hair.

"You're a psycho" Chigiri said to me but put his hands up when we saw the glare I gave him.

I sighed, "I just want it to be perfect.. I'm sorry i'm being a pain"

I felt a an arm wrap around my shoulders and squeeze, "Don't worry about it!" Bachira smiled and pointed at Chigiri, "He's just jealous because he doesn't have a girl that would do this for him" he stuck his tongue out. Chigiri flipped him off and walked off to help Barou clean.

"Megu, promise i'm not being to.." I winced, "psycho?" I mumbled. I felt him pinch both my cheeks and pull them up into a smile to match his own. I swatted his hands and rubbed my now red cheeks with a huff.

"I promise, I think it's sweet. Ooooo! Will you plan mines too?"

I laughed and nodded, "of course!". He petted my head then went to help Isagi with the drinks. This was a surprise party and Reo was charged with keeping Sei occupied until I gave him the green light. I felt bad because I haven't seen Sei lately due to the planning, I didn't want him to think I was avoiding him. It was adding more stress to my plate and I couldn't wait until this was over.

An hour passed and all of us were hiding in the dark room waiting for the door to open. We could hear Sei and Reo talking before the knob finally turned. We all jumped out screaming "Surprise!" and I laughed at the way he looked with his eyes comically big. I came up to him and wrapped my arms around his neck, he smiled at me and I gave him a kiss, "Happy birthday my love."

He rested his forehead on mines and whispered a "thank you."

We walked further into the room and I got the food ready while he made his rounds. When I felt arms wrap around me from behind, I leaned into his chest, "having fun?" I questioned.

His head went to the curve of my neck and he gave me a chaise kiss, "mhmm."

I rubbed his forearms, "you okay?" I questioned, he seemed down.

"There's something I need to talk to you about later, when we have time."

I stiffened and he gave me another kiss, "It's nothing bad, I don't think? I just received something in the mail and I wanted to talk to you about it."

I nodded, "Okay, we'll talk about it later then?"

He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a hard kiss, "I love you." he spoke against my lips.

"I love you too."

Hours later after we cleaned up and said bye to everyone, we made our way up to my room. After showering and dressing in comfortable clothes we sat cuddled on my bed. He had me on his lap while he hugged me tightly, I was running my hands through his hair but his silence was making me nervous.

"Baby? What did you want to talk about?" I asked him.

He leaned against my headboard with a sigh, "Reo and I received a letter in the mail from the JFA stating we were chosen for something called the player improvement project."

"Okay? What does that mean?"

He looked at me and continued, "It means I may go away for awhile, it's apparently like a camp I guess? They got permission from my parents to stay should I decide to."

"That's amazing though! To improve on your soccer skills? Why are you worried?" I asked.

"I don't know how long it'll be, what if i'm gone for years or something?" he mumbled sadly.

I grabbed his face and made him look at me,'"You're missing the point Sei, this is a huge opportunity! We just graduated, what's holding you back?"

He sheepishly looked at me and my eyes narrowed, "Nuh-uh, you are NOT using me as an excuse Nagi Seishiro. We will figure everything out and regardless of how long you'll be gone, you're all I want. I'll wait for you for however long."

He nodded, "Were you worried I would have been against it?" I asked.

"I don't know, I guess maybe?" he shook his head.

"Baby, playing professionally is your dream. I would never stand in your way." I kissed him.

"You will do this, you'll regret it if you don't. Remember, we'll figure it out."

He gave me a quiet "okay" and kissed me hard, after a few seconds I broke the kiss.

"When do you leave?" his eyes lowered and his shoulder dropped, "Sei?"

"Tomorrow.."

"What? Tomorrow?"

He nodded, "yeah.."

I shook my head and swallowed the lump in my throat, I raised his head and smiled, "Then let's send you off with something to remember me by" I smirked.

For the rest of the night, we made love, gave each other promises and held each other tighter. I had faith in us, in our relationship and our love. I told myself this was a minor speed bump in an otherwise long relationship. The next morning we got up, had breakfast and walked hand and hand to the building of Japan's Football Union. I saw a few familiar faces and a surge of excitement rushed through my body. I turned to Sei with a huge smile on my face, "Aren't you excited! Look who's here! Ugh you're going to have so much fun."

Sei smiled sadly at me and I huffed, "No pouting, it's only for a certain amount of time. Just keep me posted if and when you can. I'll be here when you get out." I laughed, "I just realized it sounds like i'm sending you off to prison."

He laughed and shook his head, "I'll miss you baby."

"I'll miss you too. Now go before I drag you back home" I smirked.

He gave me a kiss so deep, I felt it in my bones and hugged me, "I love you"

"I love you"

I watched him walk towards the door, after looking over his shoulder and waving, the doors shut behind him.

My shoulders slumped and I took a breath, I turned to walk back home, counting down the days before I see him again.
