Y/N - 18 Years Old

Days eventually turned into weeks and I felt like a walking zombie. I started college and was on the fast track to becoming a coach, it's always been my dream to play soccer but I fell in love with coaching one summer I decided to help out at a camp. I worked everyday with the college coaches, shadowing and learning all that I could. When they gave me the opportunity to become a shadow coach, I was ecstatic but the only person I wanted to share it with, was locked away in a building.

We haven't spoken and I got the point of it after a week or so, I understood this was to improve them. I'm guessing cellphones are a distraction but still, it hurts. It feels like I've been ghosted.

After getting to my dorm and starting on my homework, my phone starting ringing. Confused, I looked at the caller ID and my eyes widened.

I answered and yelled, "OH MY GOD! How are you calling me right now?!"

I heard a laugh and I smiled, "Aww miss me?" he said.

I rolled my eyes, "Of course, I miss you! How is it tell me everything!"

He chuckled, "I will, but first .... HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY! Sorry i'm a few days late but hey, it's the thought that counts!"

"Thank you" I giggled, "Seriously though, how is it going?"

"It's good" he paused, "Wait, has he not called you?"

I sighed, "No.. you're the first one to call"

He was quiet for a bit, I thought he hung up, "Reo...?"

He cleared his throat, "he really hasn't called you.." he whispered.

"Why are you so hung up on that?" I asked.

"He really has changed.." he said quietly.

"Reo what's going on? What do you mean he has changed? And why are you so hung up on the fact he hasn't called?"

He sighed, "Y/N, we're taught to be 'egoists' to become the greatest strikers in the world."

"Okay?"

"They drilled into us that anything other than soccer is a distraction, I didn't think he believed it but since he hasn't called you maybe he does. He's starting to pull away, from everyone except Isagi"

"What...?" I whispered.

"I'm hung up on the fact he hasn't called you because during our games here, when you score a goal you get a reward. One of the choices is your cellphone back."

I closed my eyes and took a shaky breath, "And he has not called me.."

"Text him, maybe he'll tell you why" he tried to sound hopeful but failed.

"Yeah.. yeah, I will. But tell me how it is there, are you improving?"

He started rambling all about the facility, the players, rules and even their system for food. We laughed and talked for what felt like hours, it was nice; I missed Reo like crazy.
