Cluelessness is one of a few things men have etched into their character after they've made a comitment with a woman. Whether or not it is specifically weaponized incompetence, or just plain playing dumb, they think that it is clever enough to work. In a way, though, it does. Not in the sense that we, as women, believe the feigned innocence and incompetence, but in the sense that when it is called out, we are made look like dramatic, emotional, naggers. "Darling, surely you knew that wasn't cleaned properly." "Surely, you knew I wouldn't like you inviting someone over at 3 am when you were under the impression that I was still asleep." They pretend not to be aware that the things they do are impactful. They know they're wrong. They don't care, because they want to see what they're "allowed" to do before you say something (even though it's common sense they shouldn't be doing what they're doing) only to lie and say "I didn't know" or "Oh... I'm sorry" or "Oh... my bad." and here's my favorite; "Why didn't you say anything?!" As if they don't already know...
