Eris makes the first move, swiping diagonally at my face. I sidestep, making the same move to her. Instead of sidestepping, she ducks.

'Ah, I'm too old for this,' she says, charging and forcing my back into a wall. 'Actually, that's a lie, I'm immortal,' says Eris, pausing for a moment.

I take my chance and slash against her torso, but she'd expected the move, blocking it with ease.

This scenario seems to last for hours. Endless, tiring hours, until Eris backs me up into a corner.

Her moves are consistent and strong, whereas mine are simply spontaneous bursts of energy. But those bursts don't come nearly as much as I need them to. I begin to get dizzy.

A wailing police car on the main road distracts me for a moment. I peer behind Eris, and see a row of policemen headed towards us.

I wonder what the Mist makes everything look like. Maybe they think that we're having a knife-

Eris cuts my shoulder before I can deflect it. That's stupid; I shouldn't have let myself get distracted.

'Be honest, girl,' Eris laughs.

'I have a name, you know,' I growl.

'You'll never win this battle.'

With a flick of her sword, she disarms me. Euloyia flies into the air, clattering on the floor of the road, ten, fifteen metres away. It would take too long for Euloyia to get back to my pocket.

'You did this, didn't you?' I say. 'That's why this certain street seems so quiet. You made it that way.'

Eris smiles, waving her hand at the police officers. They immediately begin screaming at eachother, their rage distracting them.

Eris, goddess of strife and discord. I guess it makes sense.

She pushes me to a corner, my head hitting the wall. I close my eyes, my head throbbing.

'You're going to die today,' whispers Eris. Then she laughs for the umpteenth time.

I can feel the energy all around me. I don't even need to search.

Taking a deep breath, I know what I need to do.

Eris raises her sword.

I let all my anger for Eris bubble up. All of the rage she'd created in my mind. Remembering every time she'd messed my life up just made me angrier.

I clench my fists into tight balls, and shut my eyes.

She'd kidnapped George.

She tortured him.

She made me snap at Percy and Annabeth.

She put the Thoughts into my head.

She'd ruined everything.

I could do this.

I let my anger out.

All the water is aimed at Eris, though Annabeth, George and the police officers do end up getting soaked as well. The water is so powerful and full of force that it lifts the goddess up into the air, and then disappears. Eris falls back.

I grab my sword and hold it to Eris's throat. I felt weak and lightheaded. But I'm determined to finish Eris off.

Eris looks red with embarrassment as she spits out a mouth of sewage water.

Yuck.

I can't help smiling.

Yet, Eris can't admit that I'd won. She doesn't scream, doesn't growl, nothing! She simply watches with a smile on her face.
