Vivian left the school and started to head back down the mountain when she heard someone call her name. When she turned around, Kaede was waving at her and standing with Sugino, Yukiko, a quiet black haired girl with glasses named Okuda and Nagisa. Vivian found her eyes meeting Nagisa's, but she quickly looked away before another massive headache could develop. "Did you guys need something?" "We were wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with us tomorrow. It starts in the afternoon, so we thought we could get lunch and then head over. What do you think?" Vivian's heart felt light as she was offered the hand of friendship that, for as long as she could remember, had only been extended to her once before, and actually thought she might want to go... but, "I wish I could, but I'm going out of town for the weekend, and I can't make it. I- I wish I could though," she repeated when she saw a look of disappointment on not only Kaede and Yukiko's face but also Nagisas. "It's ok, maybe next time, right, guys?" Sugino asked with a nod of agreement from Okuda, trying to make the others feel better, while also trying to hint to Vivian that she needed to say something. "Y-Yeah, maybe I can go next time. I'll have to check with my Ma- I mean my Father, but, yeah, I can ask him." Keade looked at her with a hopeful expression, and out of the corner of her eye, she could see Nagisa smiling slightly. They all decided, and by all everyone but Vivian verbally agreed, to walk down the mountain together. Vivian let the conversation flow around her, finding herself almost enjoying being included even though she herself never spoke; only nodding or shaking her head when asked something, but as they were mostly talking about their most recent school assignments they didn't need much impute from her to begin with. It wasn't long before they reached the bottom of the hill. Vivian checked her phone. It was three eighteen, meaning the car would be there in another two minutes as it always arrived precisely at three-twenty and not a moment later. She expected the others to keep walking, but when they noticed she wasn't walking with them, they came back to check on her. "Aren't you going to head home?" asked Nagisa, sounding a bit concerned. Vivian shook her head, "My Father is sending a car to pick me up again." "Oh, ok. Well, we'll see you on Monday then! Have fun on your trip," Kaede said cheerfully with a wave as she, Sugino, Okuda, and Yukiko, started walking to the station, waving at her over their shoulders. Nagisa started following them but then turned back to Vivian, yelling back over at the group, "I'll catch up with you guys later, I'm going to wait with Vivian." Vivian stared at Nagisa, a headache already building as he waved goodbye to his friends and came over to stand beside her. Vivian looked at Nagisa and really studied him. He was two inches taller than her five-foot, had blue hair that was just a little bit shorter than hers that he kept pinned to the top of his head in small tuft-like pigtails, and was wearing his uniform of khaki pants, a white long sleeve dress shirt with the sleeves rolled back to his elbows and a navy blue vest with a black tie. Vivian's headache started to intensify but she couldn't seem to stop herself from taking a deep breath; drawing in the scent of the forest, a family of squirrels that lived in the tree to her right, the scent of fox that was a few days old, Nagisa's shampoo, and underneath it all, the scent that was uniquely and only Nagisas'. Her body, that was always tense, always waiting to be attacked or struck from everywhere, did what it always did when she breathed in Nagisa's scent, it relaxed, going almost liquid as she focused only on his natural scent, ignoring everything else around her. She didn't know why, but for some reason, the smell was comforting and almost made her body feel safe, which made no sense. What about his scent would cause that? Besides, she was never safe, not really. She hadn't realized that her eyes had closed, and she was just deeply breathing in Nagisa's scent until she heard the sound of a car coming. Her eyes shot open as she looked in the direction of the sound and tilted her head to help listen closer. It sounded like the car she recognized as the one that was coming to get her, so she reluctantly looked back at Nagisa, who this whole time without her really noticing, had just been standing two feet away from her, staring directly at her face. Vivian locked eyes with Nagisa and was ready when the slight headache she had intensified with a bang. They stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds, saying nothing. Just as Nagisa had opened his mouth to finally say something, a small black car rolled up next to them, and the back door opened automatically, signaling for Vivian to get in. They broke eye contact quickly, and Nagisa stepped back from the car with a small smile, "Goodbye, Vivian-san. Have a good weekend." Vivian walked to the car with a wave over her shoulder, and was about to get in when, for a reason she couldn't explain, she turned back around and with an even smaller, wave she whispered, almost shyly, "Bye-bye, Berry-kun." Before she could see his reaction to her extremely weird exit that she still couldn’t explain, she slid into the back seat. As soon as the door shut, the car quickly sped away.
