The day after. 8:00 am.

I know he said I didn't have to be here early, but I got here because I wanted to see the other girls. I went alone today because my mom had an important meeting with her team (she's a very well known fashion designer).

I was sitting in the parking lot that was in between a big structure that looked like it had either a field house, or a hockey rink, and the turf field next to it. Suddenly, a car pulls up two spaces away from me.

"Jack!" Someone yells, from the drivers window.

"Yes?" A boy says grabbing hockey sticks and a huge bag from the trunk. He puts it down and pokes his head around the back of the car.

"Don't for your gloves," the woman, yells, "in the backseat."

"Ok, alright." He says. He comes around and noticed me in the front. We make eye contact for a little and then I look away. Wow he was cute.

Me, being the person I am, gets out of the car. I'm standing on the driver side of my car, leaving only my car between us. I need him to know that I am also an athlete here. I go around to the back and grab my lacrosse stick and bag.

I look at him. He's talking to his mom through the window. Looks like he's gonna be talking with her for a little bit. i'm pretending to look through my trunk to seem busy, even though the only thing in there is my stick and bag, to waste some time, so I can see where he's going.

"Ok, ok. I have to go check in." He says, laughing.

"I love you, jack!" The womens says, holding his head and kissing his cheek.

"Love you too mom." He says, sweetly.

I timed it perfectly. As he turns around, I grab my stuff out of the car and close the trunk. I'm slowly walking towards the field and I'm debating on what to do. At this point, we are standing two parking spots away from each other, but parallel. I turned him.

"You trying out today too?" I say, turning my body towards him.

"Yeah, actually, I am." he says caught off guard.

I walk towards him as his mom pulls away.

"Hockey?" I ask. " I didn't know they were holding tryouts today?"

"Yeah, U18's" he sighs.

"Are you excited?" I ask.

"Yeah, I'm a little bit nervous though cause I'm younger. I'm 17." He says, readjusting his bag across his shoulder.

"Same!" I say, happy to know I'm not the only one. " I was here yesterday for U17 team tryouts and the coach asked me to come today."

" wow, you must be really good." He laughs, looking away and then looking back at me.

"Haha I'm alright. YOU must be really good. In guys hockey you like never move up an age group." I say, excited for him.

"Haha yea..." he says thinking of what to say. "I'm alright." He says smiling.

I laugh. "What's your name?"

"Jack. Yours?"

"Lainy." I say, "good luck! Maybe I'll see you around."

"You too!" He says, as I walk away. "Bye"

1:00pm. Scrimmage #1.

Energy is high, and I have already been playing really well. I didn't let myself get nervous even though I was playing with older girls. I'm on the line and I'm waiting for the next draw to come. The score is tied and we're in sudden death overtime and it's only the first scrimmage of the day.
