Lucian POV continued
"Fated Mates were still rare, most supernatural creatures were too impatient to wait to find their true mate who could fulfill their soul.
Years passed by in a blur. And Elania found herself with a child. Azrael was beyond elated. They were happy and ruled the lands together in harmony and peace.
The other brothers Azillia and Axcus had harems of women and men and many offspring, but one thing was clear, none of their offspring were dragons. They mated with humans and supernatural's, hybrids and demons, but none of them could produce a dragon.
Elania soon gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, named Apollo and shortly after he was born, he sprouted fire red dragon scales like his father and his eyes glowed a golden color. The true prince and heir to the throne of Dragons.
It was revealed that only true fated mates of dragons could produce a dragon offspring; the dragon blood was the purest and oldest of magic and therefore it would dominate any other species.
More time passed and Azillia found his fated mate in a half human half witch Juliana and they produced triplets shortly after.
Axcus, however, had something else brewing in his soul. When Darkness struck him in the great battle, he left part of his darkness inside Axcus. A seedling, patiently waiting and feeding off the old magic. It helped plant the seed of jealousy and greed, the more Axcus fought for control, the larger the seed grew and festered deep inside Axcus who became increasingly resentful and cruel to his subjects.
Unbeknownst to Axcus, he was merely a pawn for this dark seedling. One day, the seedling found a new host, a human Lord, who was already born with a dark aura.
This Lord was a product of one of the faithful of Darkness whose lineage was cursed with mortal and mundane life. The seedling jumped from Axcus, leaving him weak and frail, and the Lord began to plan the demise of all those who punished his family.
Over the next few years, the Darkness's seedling spread among the humans, finding their essence to be the easiest to corrupt. Hatred, doubt, jealousy, and greed. The curiosity of humans and their need for more and more power would be their undoing.
The humans became bold and started the Uprising. They began to slaughter the supernatural, their neighbors and friends. They sought to control all the lands and wanted to possess their gifts for themselves. With the help of the Shadows putting fear into their souls, they wreaked havoc on the utopian society and demanded superior beings to bow at their feet.
The Dragon Kings and the supernatural creatures fought back. Many battles ended in nothing but bloodshed. The humans figured out the weaknesses of the supernatural creatures, the balance to their superiority and weaponized it: Wolfsbane and FairyDust leaves for the Wolves, Iron and Calli lily Water for the Vampires, Purified water and burning sage for demons, lavender cream and pure mountain salt for the Fae. Weapons of steel and iron and silver and gold were forged in fire and brimstone. But no one could figure out how to defeat the Dragons.
Now I can hear your thoughts my kings, you are wondering what all does this history have to do with you six and your mate....
Well one very sad day, Elania was outside the castle walls picking wildflowers when a group of human revolutionists ceased an opportunity and took her hostage while Azrael was off battling the resistance leagues away. For several weeks they kept her locked up in chains, deprived her of basic care in hopes of breaking her.
What no one knew at the time and what has been hidden for centuries is that Elania was with child during this time. A great battle engulfed the camp one night, Azrael and his brothers rained down heavy fire searching for Elania.
