Chapter 07•
Year : 1818 Location : Minimbah, New South Wales Y/n's old name : Edith Julia Griffin
" Fancy seeing you here " Edith was sitting on the roof of the square tower. It was placed in the middle of the village and a perfect spot for those who want to watch the whole village. Obviously , Edith was watching the village when she heard this familiar voice. Knowing who the owner of the voice was, Edith got up from where she was sitting while sighing in annoyance.
" You again? " Edith said it harshly to the man who was smiling at her and turned arround to Matthew. She marginally lowered her head by greeting and suddenly jumped on a low roof nearby. After that she jumped from there, on to a wooden barrel and from there to the ground making herself disappeared into the darkness. Eric, who was watching Edith disappear in to the darkness , went and sat where she was sitting while looking at the crescent moon. Matthew sat in the right side of Eric and smiled to himself and contemplated this war of friends and foes
It has been about a month since they met Edith for the first time. Before three months had passed since Eric and Matthew had start taking actions against misdeeds in Minimbah, Someone else came forward to do the same job as them. Matthew knew that Eric was happy to have her more than annyone. The villagers called them Black Shadows... At first Matthew was annoyed by that someone else had come to their aid but then, after seeing Edith's attack techniques with their own eyes, both of them felt mixed feeling of respect and satisfaction for Edith later.
Edith soon caught the attention of the villagers as the name of 'night hunter'...These three young whippersnappers had been owning the night to the extent that even the higher authorities were troubled. Instead of being afraid to be outside at night, the villagers now hang out outside with the sense of safety. Even the neighbors villages which were infested with thieves, now sleep peacefully. This sudden change affected Eric in a very different way. When Eric said that he would try to find a way to get Edith in his team soon, Matthew only tried not to laugh out of respect for their friendship. Because Matthew knew very well that Eric and Edith were not that friendly to each other he thought it was impossible.
Even Eric knew about it, but it didn't seem like he cared about it that much. Instead, Eric tried to strike up a conversation with Edith every time he saw her. But when she sees Eric, Edith greets only to Matthew and runs away quickly. From Edith's point of view, Edith had a different idea than Eric. Having gauged Eric's quick reactions and strength, Edith had decided it would be wise to avoid him. Because at any time if he feels like attacking her, there is a very high possibility that she will lose the fight. Edith didn't came here to reveal her identity by losing to a man before even accomplishing her goals, That is why it's wise to avoid someone who is stronger than you.
