There were many things written on my bucket list. A near death experience wasn't one of them. The four of us hung upside down, dangling like meat at the butchers shop. Percy and I seemed to be alright, just slightly banged up. Along with Sally. Grover on the other hand was a different story, he definitely hit his head. He kept mumbling things, dazed and most likely concussed.
I hadn't much time to try collecting my thoughts as the beast could be heard, too close for my liking. And Percy unclipped my seat belt, then getting his as well. We tumbled into the roof of the car, which I guess is now the floor. As Sally was making her way out of the broken window, the two of us managed to haul Grover out as well. It was a team effort, as the boy was alot heavier than he looked.
"How in the name of Pikachu are we gonna out run that menace?" I asked as we followed behind Sally, who seemed to know where we were going. She was leading us up the crest of a hill. However we were falling behind as we hobbled along with Grover.
"We can't, the camps boarders are just up ahead," Sally says coming down to help us along. It was a big effort but we managed to get Grover to the top. As that was going on, we dodged projectiles that were thrown at us. The Minotaur was not far behind, sniffing at the wreckage of the car. If it was relying on scent alone that meant it's eyes sight wasn't that great. Which could be an advantage.
As the three of came up to the gate, my eyes took in the words on the archway. Camp Half-blood was scrawled out in elegant writing. In a few seconds we were through the archway, however Percy and I stopped when we heard a yelp. Sally was pressing her hand up to the door way but it was like some invisible force kept her from passing.
"Mom come on, that thing is coming!" Percy shouted moving to try to get his mother through the boarders. If what she had said earlier was true, this moment was making me start to believe it.
"This place is for people like us Perce. If the legends are true normal mortals can't pass through without special permission," I state glumly, trying my best to stay upright under the extra weight of Grover. Percy shook his head trying to pull poor Sally through, with no such luck.
We both watched as the Minotaur came up behind her, snatching her up in its massive fists. And before our eyes she dissolved into a golden dust. But not like when Percy killed the fury, this was different. The next thing happened so fast I didn't know how to react as Percy charged the thing. Unarmed. Screaming insults at the beast. I cursed under my breath, propping Grover up at the base of a great pine tree. I'm not sure why but I felt a connection towards it, but that was the least of my problems.
Percy was running around doing his best to dodge things being chucked at him. I ran out from the safety of the boarders grabbing a big branch, with shocking accuracy I managed to smack it in-between it's eyes. It roars before turning towards me, trying to charge. If we could actually get it to charge, it wouldn't be able to turn around that quickly.
Adrenaline pumped through me, and it was like a surge of electricity crackled throughout my whole body. Without even much of a thought, a bolt of lightning shot down from the heavens. Not much damage was made to the monster, but it did singe it's fur. Whilst also burning at some flesh.
As it ran at me, I quickly rolled to the side. Almost colliding with Percy, anger could be seeing rippling in his sea green eyes. Clearly enraged at what happened to his poor mother, hopefully she was alive. Words weren't exchanged between us but a silent agreement was made.
Mr Bullman, came at both of us. He went one way and I went the other, causing the Minotaur to ram into a tree. It's horn got stuck, and it struggled trying to break free. As it did, a loud roar of pain filled the valley, looking over I noticed it's horn was still embedded into the tree.
It was only a few feet away, in a bit of a daze. Which was all that was needed. Together Percy and I grabbed the base of the horn, pulling with all our might. After a few seconds it came free, with the adrenaline still keeping us going we ran at it. Plunging the tip of the horn into its flesh, exactly in the heart. Just like the fury it exploded into yellow dust. We stood there a few seconds, catching our breaths before Percy passed out.
Luckily Grover was back to his senses, running up to me. He was still a bit dazed but together we managed to carry Percy back into the camp.
"If this is going to be my life from now on, just don't let it be written into a Greek tragedy," I pleaded as we stumbled down the hill. If the circumstances were different I'd stop to admire the camp, it was the same as my dreams. Meaning they were visions.
"Not all demigods lives end that way," Grover encouraged and as we stepped into the main part of the camp, attention was being drawn to us. Apart from a few scratches and bruises we were alight. However people still rushed over to us, looks of panic on their faces.
"What happened?" A tall blonde guy asks, he seemed to be one of the oldest kids at this place. There was a scar across the side of his face, but that didn't diminish his boyish good looks. "Thalia? Is that you?" There was confusion in his eyes.
"I'm sorry you are mistaken. I'm Naomie, and I just killed the Minotaur with my friend. Give me a minute," I replied sitting down next to where Grover had laid Percy. Exhaustion overtook me and my eyes rolled into the back of my skull. My body fell, and my head rested against Percy's chest.
That's when everything went black.....
