While waiting for the bus, they got bored and decided to play hacky sack with one of Grover's apples. I just watched them quietly, the soft tones of Elton John soothing my ears. Calming down my senses, which was nice. I giggled as the apple came too close to Grover's mouth, and he gobbled it up. Seeds and all.
"You do know that apple seeds contain traces of cyanide?" I state hoping that it wasn't bad for the satyr.
"I'll be fine Memes don't worry," Grover reassured and Percy sat down next to me. His eyes were droopy so he decided using me as a pillow. We waited a few more minutes then the bus finally arrived. Which to me felt like an eternity.
Grabbing our things we stood in line waiting to board. Rain was starting to fall from the sky, another reminder that we had to appease my father.
"Hey I zoned out for most of the quest briefing, when's the deadline for this thing?" I asked as I noticed Grover sniff the air. He stiffened, eyes going wide, before shaking the action off.
"Your birthday," Percy answered before turning to Grover "Hey man are you alright?" Like always Grover tried beating around the bush, however the both of us knew him too well. And pressed him further.
Despite our attempts he wasn't letting up and soon we were all on the bus, making a beeline to the back where we could all fit nicely. Not wishing to be separated, as that definitely wouldn't end well. However having three demigods and a satyr all grouped together was probably worse then splitting up. Given the fact Percy and I were both children of the big three. Making our blood that much more appealing to monsters.
As I was just getting comfortable, relaxing and preparing for the long drive. Seeing as California was where we needed to go to get to the underworld. Yeah that's right folks, we're paying a visit to uncle Hades. Anyway like I was saying, as I settled down Annie grabbed my knee.
"Naomie! Percy!" She exclaimed pointing to the front of the bus. Taking my gaze from the book I had pulled out of my bag, which I quickly put back. Following her finger my eyes took in the sight of an old woman who was dressed horribly. And I'm not one to insult strangers but as soon as I saw her face I didn't feel bad anymore.
Standing at the front of the bus was Mrs Dodds, back from Tartarus and too soon might I add. She did look more withered than usual, that could be seen as an advantage. Although something told me that she already knew we were here. Why else would she just so happen to be on our bus.
Behind her was two more old ladies, identical to her except their hats. Making our escape more difficult. How we were going to weasel our way out of this one I wasn't sure.
"You said she could stay dead for a lifetime," Percy scolds Annie as we all shared worried looks.
"I said if you're lucky. Obviously you two aren't," she replied and Grover shook in his goat fur.
"Di immortals!" He says trying not to panic "All three of them," flashbacks seemed to play through his mind. Leaving to poor boy shaken.
"It's alright it's only three of the most dangerous monsters from the underworld. We can just jump out the window," Annie says with a severe amount of panic laced within her voice.
"They don't open, and there isn't a back exit," Percy informed her only fueling the worry and panic.
"And it's not like I can smite them where they stand, obviously not with so many civilians. Who knows what they'll see through the mist," I state trying to come up with the best case scenario. None of which were good.
"Maybe they'll overlook us, if Percy sneaks up the isle in my hat. They might just go past him," Annie hypothesised, and I truly admired her quick thinking.
