POV: MK
I had just dropped off Red Son at his therapy session with Sandy. Okay, I know it sounds a little dumb, but bear with me. I think it works because he's been calmer lately and he's been willing to accept Diamond's friends, even though I'm pretty sure he hates them, especially Quinn because he told me that they're probably a bad influence on his daughter. But I don't think Diamond being the one influenced is what he has to worry about. I think recently Diamond's been getting more and more open with the idea of violence with her dad around, so that concerns me, but I'm not going to worry about that right now. I'm currently heading over to Monkey King's to do my training, which I haven't done in a while because I've been trying to get Red Son in the habit of being around people more. And the more we go out, the more people notice that he's in public, so I'm trying my best to make sure he doesn't get attacked or that Diamond doesn't get harassed for her dad destroying the city almost a year ago.
As I was driving up, I noticed that there weren't as many monkeys today, but when I arrived I realized that they were all at the entrance awaiting my arrival. They must have been pretty excited to see me. As soon as I opened the door, Monkey King immediately was like "Where the hell have you been for the past week?!" I told him I was dealing with some stuff, and I knew that I had to tell him about Red, so after training for a long time we took a little lunch break and he decided to groom my hair and talk about what was going on.
Monkie King: So, what have you been doing in the past week instead of training here? It must have been really important if you didn't come to me.
Mk: Monkey King, it's nothing. Well, it's not actually nothing. You see, about all the time I've been gone... you know Red Son, right?
Monkey King: Oh Gods, what did he do now?
Mk: He didn't do anything! In fact, he's willing to become a good guy now, and over the week I've been trying to help him ease into doing good things. So far there haven't been a lot of crimes, so that's good, but I'm trying to get him out more. He needs to get used to being in public and letting people know he's willing to show his face as a good guy now, and I want him to get closer to Diamond. I mean, she is his daughter. It's just been a week of family drama.
Monkie King: Oh, I don't mean that. I was already aware that Red Son was kind of joined with you, he was trying his best but I also seem to have noticed one other teeny little thing.
Mk: Huh?
Monkie King: How long have you two been dating?
Mk: Wha- Monkey King, we're not dating! He's just rooming with me. Besides, we have like no chemistry at all.
Monkie King: *Eyebrow raise* Oh, really? You two go on constant dates, and the amount of times I've seen you have movie nights together is unbelievable!
Mk: First of all, we don't go on dates, we bring Diamond with us because we want to spend time with her. And I only take him to public places because I can't let him be inside like a hobbit all day. (Also, we really need to talk about your spying problem).
Monkie King: Okay, I guess I can believe that, but you can't be that stupid to not see that you have a crush on him.
Mk: I don't have a crush on him! What do you think, that I always think about him 24/7? About how great he is, and how cool he is, and how good of a dad he is, how attractive he is, and how he's doing his very best- okay, I'm just rambling.
Monkie King: You see my point?
Mk: Whatever, it's normal to think about a friend like that! Besides not like I want to kiss him or anything, or go out with him, or do anything a romantic couple would do....
Monkie King: You're thinking about that right now aren't you?
Mk: NO! Okay, even if I did like him, what proof do you have that he likes me back?
Monkie King: I have seen him staring at you with puppy dog eyes when your back is turned, Mk, friends don't look at each other like that.
Mk: No he doesn't! Besides, Red's a cat person, why would he do puppy dog eyes? Trust me, he's scared of a toaster.
Monkie King: Whether or not you believe it Mk, I can see better than anyone that you like him, besides what's so terrible about you being together?
Mk: .......
I thought about it for a second, if I liked him. There was nothing stopping me from making a move, but... I had this feeling in my chest that felt like fear, it surrounded my brain with reasons why he wouldn't be interested, or the things that could go wrong if we dated... it hurt so much, like a stinging feeling.
I decided that I was done with training for the day so I said goodbye to Monkie King and all the monkies and left. but while I was leaving I thought more and more about what monkie king said, it did sound ridiculous but I thought more about that warm feeling I felt when I looked at him, that feeling when he was being kind or doing good... but he probably doesn't like me back. I mean, why would he? We don't have that much in common, and it probably wouldn't work out... whatever, I should probably stop thinking about this. I should get back home to Diamond.
