Chapter 31

"Hey."

"Hi," alanganing sabi ko.

Nicola chewed on the inside of her cheek. "I wanted to apologize about... my behavior towards you," bumuntong-hininga siya at bahagyang namumula ang mga pisngi. "Never akong nagkainteres kay Ley. Gusto kong maging klaro 'yon. He's like a brother to me, I guess. I just..." She paused, struggling for words. "I hope you'll forgive me someday."

Ngumiti ako sa kanya. "I know. I already forgave you."

"Really?" Bahagyang gulat na sabi niya.

I bit my lip and nodded yes.

We both stared at each other before we laughed for some unknown reason. No awkward conversation needs to take place. No unnecessary words but understanding for someone who loved blindly and was hurt in the process. I have nothing against her and I'm glad that she was not the person I thought she was. After all, we can all be a villain in someone's story but that doesn't mean that we innately are. 

She smiled lightly and gestured at the food.

"Well, I'm starving," anunsiyo niya at binuhat ang isang chinaware na may pagkain. "I'll help you with this."

Sabay kaming naglakad papunta sa patio at agad na napansin ko ang paninigas ng katawan ni Nicola sa tabi ko.

Shucks, nakalimutan kong bigyan siya ng heads up.

The men, of course, didn't notice as they continued their conversation.

"Okay ka lang?" Nag-aalalang tanong ko sa kanya.

Hindi ko gustong i-imagine ang nararamdaman niya.

She forced herself to look at me, her eyes filled with unshed tears.

Oh, Nicola...

"Yes," she managed to answer in a firm voice before raising her head high and strutting outside.

"Thanks, sis," agad na sabi ni Calum sa kanya nang nilapag niya ang pagkain sa harap nito.

She gave him a noncommital nod before sitting beside him, they were both directly in front of Kai and the girl.

Kai looked at her, his eyes lingered for a moment, but Nicola seemed determined to ignore him and didn't acknowledge his presence nor look at his way.

Hinila ako ni Leyton nang mailagay ko ang pagkain sa mesa at pinatong ako sa kandungan niya.

Reid smirked as my husband pressed a kiss on my head before letting me sit beside him.

"By the way, sis, have you met-"

"I'm starving," agad na putol ni Nicola sa kambal niya bago niya ito tinapunan ng pilit na matamis na ngiti.

We all started to get our own food, Leyton, of course, got my food for me.

"Thank you," bulong ko sa kanya.

The guys went back to their conversation about a potential project of Leyton's company in Tagaytay. The girl joined in on the conversation, and I quickly learned that she was an architect. Nicola's face remained blank as we both stayed quiet.

"So...how about you tell us how you two met?" Sabi ni Reid kalaunan kay Kai.

"Shit," usal ni Nicola at napatingin kaming lahat sa duguan niyang daliri.

She accidentally cut herself with the steak knife and it was bleeding profusely. It even looked like the cut was deep and I was afraid she might have cut her finger off.

My instinct immediately made me want to help her.

Halos sabay kaming napatayo ni Kai.

"What the fuck did you do?" Nangagalaiting sabi ni Kai at agad na hinila ang kamay ni Nicola para suriin ito.
