Chapter 40

The first thing that I noticed when I woke up was a heavy arm on my waist and soft breathing against my neck. I stilled, my heart felt so full I thought it was going to burst. My husband was spooning me from the back and tightened his arms around my body when he felt me move, as if afraid I'll get away.

Ngumiti ako bago paman buksan ang mga mata ko. I missed this so desperately. I felt very happy and contented. It's almost funny how much a person can drastically have such an impact in your life.

"Hmm...you up, wife?" he murmured sleepy against my neck.

I giggled, feeling ticklish. Humarap ako sa kanya at lalong napangiti nung makita ko na nakapikit pa siya.
What a sight to see in the morning. Leyton is really very, very attractive. Siya 'yong tipo ng lalaki na lalong gumagwapo kapag tinititigan. I honestly don't what he saw in me.

I leaned in to kiss the top of his nose slightly.

"I'm going to prepare some breakfast. Matulog ka muna." Marahang sabi ko.

Dumilat siya ng konti bago mas lalong hinigpitan ang yakap sa'kin. Isiniksik niya ang ulo niya sa leeg ko.

"Hmm, I love the way you smell. I want to inhale you until nothing's left of you, baby. And don't worry about breakfast, someone is coming up to serve it," sagot niya.

I nodded and stayed in his arms. I ran my hands on the naked skin of his back and smiled when I felt his skin tingled underneath my fingers.

We stayed like that for several minute, merely enjoying each other's presence. Hindi na ako makapaghintay na makauwi sa bahay. Gusto ko na siyang umuwi sa bahay namin.

However, we still have an unfinished business. Hanggang sa may mga lihim siya tungkol sa'min, I will never be at peace.

"Ley?"

"Hmm?"

Marahan akong kumalas sa yakap niya. He reluctantly let me go and stared at me, his eyes still looking a bit sleepy.

"Handa na akong makinig. Will you tell me everything?" pagsusumamo ko. I couldn't take another secret or another lie.

He just stared at me for one full minute and kissed my head before nodding. He blinked, his sleepiness slowly disappeared from his face as he stared at the ceiling.

Ilang sandali na nakatitig lang siya 'don na tila malalim ang iniisip. "That day, seven years ago, I was at that hospital to attend a meeting with Kai and Sam's fathers." simula niya. "I'm not going to bore you with the details on what traspired in that meeting. Anyway, I was on my way out and saw you in the middle of the hallway, staring into space, and all I could think of is how I would do everything to take the melancholy and desperate hopelessness in your eyes. It was the first time I felt like I wanted to hug a girl other than my sister," ngumiti siya ng bahagya, lost in the memory. "What I felt for you though wasn't brotherly, Kitten. I wanted you. You looked so miserable, young and beautiful, and I just wanted you. I didn't even care that you were technically a kid. Do you remember bumping into me?" he asked.

I forced myself to remember. Umiling ako nang hindi ko talaga maalala. I spaced out and cried a lot in that hospital kaya hindi ko na ma-distinguish kung saan doon. I can't believe that I already met him and forgot about ut.

"I figured the only way you'd notice me is if I acted like myself. So I approach you and acted like a complete asshole," he blinked, still absorbed in his thoughts. "You looked at me straight in the eyes, not caring who I was. For some reason, I knew I was not letting you go in that exact moment. I didn't even try. Everyone was calling me out of my supposed psychosis, but I never doubted what I felt for you. I needed to make sure you become mine, so I had you investigated," he said, turning to look at the window, lost in his memory as he absentmindedly traced my arm with his fingers.
