"So, where are you from?" Asked Jay as he started driving.
"Here and there."
"Okay. Where are you originally from?"
"New York. I moved to Chicago because my mom got a job offer here."
"Oh cool, so you decided to stay?"
"I did, my mom moved back when I was nineteen to work in a bookshop with her friend."
"That sounds fun. Were you quite independent?"
"Yeah. I joined the academy at eighteen and became a cop at nineteen. Worked as an officer for two years before my old Sargent took a risk and took me into his unit. I worked with that unit for six years, until I turned twenty seven and...oh look. We're here. Let's go." I said, cutting myself off as I got out of the car.
Jay gave me a strange look but he shrugged and followed me out. He said a few hellos to some of the doctors before he picked up his pace to catch up with me.
As I walked up to the front desk, a doctor in red scrubs put on a wide smile, closing the file in his hands and put the folder away.
"Hey, Jay. How's it going?"
"Not too bad. You?"
"Not bad."
I looked between the two as they talked and hugged each other. Jay soon stepped back, looking apologetic before he introduced me.
"Sorry. This is Kayla. Kayla this is Will, my brother."
"Oh. Nice to meet you."
*Jay's Pov*
"Yeah. Cool. Meet and greets, how lovely. We need to see Marcel Diaz's medical records."
Will awkwardly pulled his hand away, scratching the back of his head as she stared at him, not wanting to waste any more time.
"No can do."
"Not even as a favour for your brother."
"Break the law? You're having a laugh, mate."
"Let me just call Niko."
She held the phone out as she pressed the button and it rang twice before he answered his phone.
"Niko, FBI."
"Hey, Niko. You got that court order?"
The call abruptly ended and Will covered his mouth with his hand, trying to hide his laugh.
Kayla's phone pinged almost instantly and she was quick to show it to Will. He sighed, typing onto the computer before he spun it around so we could see the screen.
"We've got it. We go to his mother's house and she'll give up his location."
"And if she doesn't?"
"There are other ways."
As Kayla walked off, Will grabbed my wrist, forcing me to face him.
"Who is she?"
"Someome Hank hired."
"She's dangerous."
"She's not, she just gets things done. She does them quick but the quality of her cases are good."
"What unit did she move from?"
"She's a bounty hunter with the FBI."
"No way. Does she get paid much?"
