ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ ᴍᴏɴᴛʜs ʟᴀᴛᴇʀ"So, as you all know I'm sure, we've been working on something to help us get stronger. Faster. Smarter, even."
"It is with pride, that I announce our new training system. Complete, of course."
Izzy and Harriet rip the sheet off the massive structure, resembling a giant pole.
The other icers stare in awe, at this massive structure.
"Now, I know it may seem scary now, but we won't know until we try."
The structure was massive, almost as tall as the maze walls. At the very bottom, two thick metal bars bolted into the ground.
Inside the metal bars, a circle outforming platform is planted on the ground. Rotating oak poles are above the ground, each with a thicker casing on the ends. In between the poles, there are rope ladders placed periodically.
Above, there is a wooden structure with open squares on all sides. There are strategically placed holes, with poles inside, which can be pushed through from either side.
There is a square hole in the center of the structure, which must be climbed through to reach the platform above. There is a swinging rope course above this platform, which must be swung across to reach the next level.
The next level requires hand to hand combat, a face off of sorts. To reach the final platform, two people must face off, the winner proceeds to the final level.
The level is the hardest, requiring speed, agility, and quick thinking. The moving pallets must be jumped on, and the swinging bars must be used to get across to the finish line.
Some of them are frightened at this prospect. But, others are ready for the challenge.
"Now, Harriet and I will go through it first to demonstrate the extent of this, just so everyone knows what to do when they get up there. Sound good?"
Unanimous nods around the group suffice as an answer.
Izzy looks quite pleased at this, to say the least. She motions for Harriet to step forward, to demonstrate.
It is only then the others take note of what they're wearing. Clad in training gear from head to toe, but not wearing a helmet.
The two girls glance at each other mischievously, before darting off. Izzy's always been the fastest in the spring, so she's already partially ahead. Izzy narrowly dodges an oak pole, only to be bludgeoned by one a moment later. She quickly moves on, seemingly unfazed.
Harriet's close behind, managing not to be struck, battling her way to a ladder. Izzy swings harshly, gripping the ladder rung with her left arm, pulling herself up.
