"Alright," Jim readied himself, "Do your worst." Toby went to throw a watermelon at him. He quickly sliced it in half, mid-air, causing the fruit to disappear into thin air. Next to him, I gasped in surprise and looked at the boys in shock.
"Woah!" I breathed.
"It slices!" Toby yelled.
"It dices!" Jim responded dorkily, making me laugh.
Right next to Toby, Alexa was holding onto a stack of old newspapers, "That was awesome! Do it again!"
I laughed at her, "Come on Tobes, what else you got?" Toby looked around for a moment but then took the stack of newspapers from Alexa.
"You know, we should totally recycle these... but-" He looked at me with a smirk that I returned, biting my lip in excitement, "shredding them is more fun! Less environmentally conscious, but way more fun!" He wound up and threw the newspapers my way. I cut right through them with my own sword and like Jim's watermelon, they disappeared in a flash.
"Home run!" Jim praised me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pretending to be looking for a baseball flying into the sky. I nudged him with my elbow as I laughed along.
"It's like a ticker-tape parade of awesome!" Toby yelled happily and Alexa jumped around as bits of the papers floated onto the grass.
All of a sudden, Draal stepped out of the backdoor, looking slightly agitated, "What is this mockery?"
"Hey Draal," Jim waved with a smile, one arm still around my shoulders, "We're just working on some sword fighting skills."
Draal scoffed in disbelief, "The swords of Daylight and Moonlight are not toys to be played with. They are hallowed obligations that trolls have spent entire lifetimes training to wield." Jim knew he wasn't just talking about multiple trolls, he meant himself. He glanced from his sword to Draal.
"You want to take it for a spin?" He asked, holding the sword towards Draal, removing his arm from me. Draal hesitated for a moment, before taking it graciously. He held it up in the air, a smile full of pride on his face. For a split second, he thought he had seen his father's reflection in the Daylight sword's metal. But in a flash, the sword was gone and reappeared in Jim's hand.
"Sorry..." Jim apologized, "I forgot."
Draal sighed and looked at the two of us, "If my destiny is not to hold the sword of Daylight, perhaps it is to teach you both how to properly wield such a weapon." He glanced around before he spotted a lamp. He grabbed it and removed the lampshade. Toby and Alexa backed away as Draal began to spin the lamp around like a sword. He swung it down towards Jim's head but stopped only a few inches before him.
"These blades are just extensions of your bodies." He explained, "And your bodies are just extensions of your eyes. Mimic my movements, Trollhunters."
Jim and I moved across from Draal, holding our swords out as he held out the lamp. Draal continued on, doing some different fighting stances, and Jim and I mirrored him, move by move. A bit later we had begun to spar, the two of us versus Draal.
Suddenly, Draal had me shoved against the wall of the house, making me gasp in both pain and shock.
"That kind of hurt." I gasped out, as the lamp dug into my throat.
"A real fighter is never predictable, Trollhunter." He growled, "You have to expect the unexpected, learn to embody the suits of armor. Force them to do what you want." Jim ran in and forced Draal away from me before I could counter the troll's attack.
