There are also mentions of disordered eating, weight control, and abuse in the form of food control and control over appearance. If you're dealing with something like this in your relationship know that these are forms of abuse and that abuse often escalates into violence. It's not if they'll hit you, it's when. I speak from personal experience. If you need help leaving an abusive situation, call 800.799.SAFE. I decided to save the skinnydipping for next chapter because this weekend is going to be chaotic. But I made it up to you at the end of this chapter. Next chapter will be from James's POV. As always, please remember to vote and comment!

And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before

FIONA

January 20, 2023

"You're in love with him," Bea remarked, casually puffing on a joint as Fiona packed her suitcase.

James was outside with Steve, fixing something in his car before they made the drive out to Sandy. It was only a 40 minute drive, but his car had been making weird noises all week, and he only now decided to fix it.

The morning they were supposed to leave. He was so stubborn.

Fiona bit her lip and turned around, blush creeping into her cheeks.

"I am not."

"Yes, you are. You're totally in love with him," Bea replied.

Bea and Steve were spending the weekend at the house, throwing a little barbecue for some of the other faculty members. James offered to push the date of their little getaway back, but Fiona really wanted to go. There was something addicting about spending quality time with him. She looked forward to going to sleep for once in her life, because it meant that she got to wake up next to him in the morning.

"I am not!"

"You purposely lost a game of pool to stay with him for a week—"

"Not at his house, he's staying here too!"

"Good, because if he took you away from me, I'd beat his ass."

Fiona chuckled.

"I am not in love with him," she murmured as she folded clothes while Bea watched her, sitting cross-legged on the bed.

"Fiona, you can admit it to yourself."

"Nope, because it's not true."

"Okay, well, denial is a river in Egypt."
