Chapter Six: The Questioning

NOVEMBER 1ST, 2022

— Lorraine slept over in the bottom story of the barn with Billy. That night, she learned some new things about him. One, he snores. Two, he doesn't like making dinner for anyone, let alone a guest.

So she ordered a pepperoni pizza to the barn and Lorraine took it from the delivery man and brought it downstairs for the two of them to enjoy.

Lorraine mentally cringed when he ate an entire slice in less than ten seconds. Like.. calm down, you're not alone here, and you're not fucking starving.
She had two slices, and Billy had five. To which she stared at him with a horrified look on her face, and he looked up at her like he did nothing wrong.

It was eleven in the morning when she woke up to a loud blaring ding on her phone, for the first time in forever, seeing as she wasn't used to messages from anyone anymore.

Mindy:
- Hey Rainy! I was wondering if
maybe you wanted to join the rest
of us in the courtyard?

Lorraine:
Sure! Now? -

Mindy:
- Anytime in the next 20 minutes if
that'll work with you

Lorraine:
I'll he there in 15! -

Mindy:
- Alr, Cya :)

Lorraine:
Cya :) -

Lorraine then quickly realized she couldn't change her clothes, so she just got up and told Billy she was meeting with the gang, and left.
Lorraine quickly walked back to Blackmore, just a block away from the barn, and walks into the courtyard, to see the rest, as well as Ethan sitting to the left of Tara, and Tara next to Chad.
Lorraine quickly sat to the left of Ethan, and cleared her throat.

"Hello Rainy!" Mindy said with a smile, which she resembled back after a second. "I was just discussing the suspects!"

"Oh? Were you? Who are they?" Lorraine questioned with a face curiosity looming over her.

"Well, we were thinking Quinn, Ethan, and.. you." Mindy said quizzically, with a little hint of curiosity in her expression.

Lorraines eyebrows furrowed, "Me? Why me? And why Quinn and Ethan?"

"Well.. Ethan and Quinn are newcomers to the group, and the new people are always the first suspects, and you.. you're well.. No offense but you're you."

"Slight offense taken." Lorraine said with a slight frown on her lips.

"Any alibi for yesterday morning Rain?" Mindy spoke up suddenly. There was a shift in the air as the air suddenly became colder, and her neck felt tighter, "Yesterday morning? What happened?"

"Haven't you heard about Charlotte? Your roommate?" Ethan nudged his shoulder with hers gently with furrowed eyebrows.

"Well, of course, but I wasn't aware that's when she died.." Lorraine came up with the good excuse of her mixup. "I was at the library.. like I usually am.."

"Typical!" Mindy yelled alarmingly louder than usual, "The smart, know-it-alls alibi is being at the library! Classic!" she said clapping her hands together, making the tips of Lorraines ears go deep red.
The thing that shocked her at that moment was Ethan putting his arm around her, and saying "sorry about her, don't listen." she nodded with a small smile.

"I was with her at the library actually, economics has me mentally exhausted and messed up." Ethan says, shocking Lorraine that he lied for her, but making her glance towards him with a small smile nonetheless.

Mindy continued to talk about who were considered suspects, smirking when Ethan whispered in her ear about how much he can't wait to get the hell out of here.
