Eddy looked at the list Belle had given them, it seemed long, but she assured them they didn't have to do it all.
"We're gonna do it all aren't we?" Eddy asked softly, feeling like Brett was an overachiever like that.
"Oh definitely," Brett chuckled softly, taking the list from Eddy and looking it over again. "It's not gonna take long, most of these are in the same area anyway."
"That's true and I know the area decently well," Eddy nodded with a little hum, "And you do have the car, so we could go fast."
"I do, but I looked at the traffic on google maps... I suspect it's actually gonna be quicker to take public transport," Brett hummed softly, folding up the list. "Unless you'd prefer the car for other reasons?"
Eddy licked his lips, "Um well if you think it would be quicker..."
He was anxious around large groups of people, now more than ever. He was suspicious that anyone could be there to kill them!
"I do think so, yeah," Brett nodded, looking up at him. "It's just a short right on the underground anyway, one stop. If you feel okay with it."
"Okay..." Eddy trailed off thoughtfully, "We can do that."
He did not feel okay with it! But it would be quicker and Brett wanted to get the list done. So he would go along with it and hate every second of it.
"I promise we'll be safe, okay?" Brett said softly as if he could read his mind. He then tiptoed up to kiss his cheek before slipping his shoes on. "Let's head out so we can get back for your nap sooner rather than later."
"Okay Bretty," That was all Eddy could say. What could he do? Protest and cause a scene about not wanting to be around people. He'd look like a toddler. He felt like one though, like he could cry and scream. He was ridiculous. Too hard to handle if he didn't behave. So he'd behave and be quiet. If he was taught anything from Jeremy or the organization it would be that he was better seen and not heard especially when his mental health was at the lowest. There was no such thing as no in his world, only defiant or submissive silence.
Brett opened the door for them, taking Eddy's hand on the way out. The sun was up today again, but the forecast said it would rain later, so he wanted to get as much done as possible before that.
Eddy glanced around, already feeling the way his anxiety rose like waves crashing against him. He had just stepped outside and it already felt like he was drowning. Eddy knew how to shut up though, so he pinched his lips together.
"It's so nice out," Brett commented gently before locking the door behind them. "I think going by car would be a waste of this weather."
Eddy thought the temptation of nice weather would end in them wasting their lives. Stabbed bodies ending up in the London gutter! Not a great feeling. He would rather be inside, "It is nice."
He was taught being agreeable was what made him likable.
"Right?" Brett said with a smile, putting the keys away. "So, you're familiar around here, right? Know the way to the underground station?"
"I like hearing the birds chirp on warm days," Eddy said softly, that wasn't a lie. It was something he genuinely enjoyed. Although he could still hear them from inside. Inside felt safer, "I know the way."
He nodded a little, feeling the urge to rub his throat.
"Birdsong is really nice," Brett agreed, squeezing his hand. He thought Eddy felt a bit off, but not too much so. It made sense that he was nervous still, but they were safe now. They had made it away!
