The shopping bags were kinda heavy, but it was okay. He could do it! At least until he could get some help. Brett was standing outside the bookstore, but had really only been standing there a minute or two when Eddy came out. It seemed he was a lot calmer than he had been, and happier. Maybe the quiet environment had helped?
"Hey, there you are. Got everything?" he asked with a smile.
"I do, do you need any help Bretty?" Eddy asked gently, he wanted to make sure Brett was okay and didn't have too much of a burden on him. He already felt like he had been one for not going with Brett and just being overall anxious.
"If you have a hand, it'd be easier if you grabbed one of the bags," Brett admitted with a small smile. "Thank you, love. Ready to head home then?"
"I am ready," Eddy gently shifted his bag filled with books to grab a few bags from Brett, "Hopefully you didn't struggle too much without me."
He really was ready to go home but he felt like he could have stayed a bit longer with Matt... Well in the bookstore and would have been fine."I didn't, baby," Brett smiled, kissing his cheek quickly. "I promised I would call you if I needed help, didn't I?"
"You did, I just worry," Eddy said softly as he shifted the bags on his arms. At least he could help now, "I got something for you."
He decided to mention since it seemed like a good time to do so."Yeah? Wanna show me in the cab?" Brett asked, nodding to the black cab that just pulled up near them. He carefully opened the door to let Eddy get in first.
"Yes, that sounds good," Eddy sighed contently, honestly happy they were going to go back in a cab. He slipped into the car, almost immediately relaxing more, even if in the presence of a stranger. Possibly a dangerous stranger.Brett slipped in next to him. He had already informed the driver of the location when he called, so he only needed to give his name and they were off. He leaned back into the seat and exhaled slowly.
"It's a lot more stressful to take the underground, I'll admit that," he hummed softly.
"It is, even if it is quicker." Eddy didn't want to flat out and say he didn't like it but he didn't like it. Maybe when he knew everything was okay he'd feel fine towards it but as of now he definitely did not."Even if it is quicker," Brett nodded, resting his head on Eddy's shoulder a bit. "Did you get me something, though?"
"I did." Eddy nodded shuffling to pull something from the bag, "They had the full kingdom series, I don't know if it's still your favorite but when we were in Uni I remember it was your favorite.""Really, they did?" Brett asked, lighting up a bit more. "Wow, I haven't read that in ages! Did you get the whole series?"
"They did and I got all 68. Didn't cost as much as I thought it would because the cashier was nice and gave me a discount." He pulled the first volume out to show Brett that he in fact bought them, "Maybe you'll feel nostalgic reading them.""Oh wow, you're so thoughtful! I'd love to read them again," Brett smiled, taking the book and opening it to look.
Eddy smiled watching Brett, in a way it was nice to simply enjoy things they once had. Maybe it would help them forget the life they had led for the last few years. Eddy doubted he could ever forget about the blood on his hands though, "You'll certainly have the time to read it too.""I will," Brett smiled, closing the book again and kissing Eddy's cheek. "Thank you, my beautiful, kind angel."
"You're welcome, I think it may be good to enjoy the simple things we used to," Eddy said gently, "Well if our interests still align with it.""I think so too, you're right," Brett smiled, carefully giving the book back so he could keep it in the bag for now. "We can read together tomorrow, maybe?"
Eddy slipped the manga back in to be safe in the bag, "That could be really nice I think. I got some interesting books that were suggested to me."
