Chapter 4 : The Unforgivable truth

I froze. The hair on my arms stood tall. My skin turned pale. I felt I would stand there forever. I felt all my feelings drain out of my head. I was falling. My feet couldn't hold my weight any more. My eyes closed as I hit the ground. I knew what had happened. I fainted. I was so shocked, I fainted. I could hear faint voices. "Kas! My goddess! Are you alright?" Professor Mcgonagall was with me. Then her office door opened. It was Harry. "Professor, I-Kas! What happened?" he asked. "Potter, go get Madam Pomfrey!" called Mcgonagall. "It will be alright Kas, don't worry..."

--------------

"Draco! Stop touching her! You're going to wake her!" shouted Pansy. "Say the girl screaming!" yelled Draco. "Guys, stop fighting." I said in a weak voice. "You're alive!" said Pansy. "Yeah, I guess." I said. My throat felt as if it was made of ice. Every time I tried to talk, I felt that more ice stopped me from talking. All that came out was a weak sound. "What happened? When we came out of the Great Hall, we saw Madam Pomfrey bring you to the hospital wing. And, me and Pansy followed." Draco said. I wanted to tell them everything I was told. But, they wouldn't understand. I didn't want to be a Slytherin nor be related to Salazar Slytherin. Because they are Slytherin, they would think that's great. "I-I am actually pretty tired right now." I lied. "You guys better get to class, you don't want to be late." I continued to lie. "Okay." replied Pansy and she left the Hospital Wing. "Hope you feel better." said Draco and he left, as well. I looked down at my arm. It had more scales. I was about to sleep when the doors opened with a bang. "Kas!" yelled a soft yet worried voice. It took me a minute to know who it was. But, that voice belongs to Hermione. I sat up on the bed to look at her. As always, she was carrying a book. "Oh I hope you're alright. What happened?" she asked. I knew I could tell her. She would understand unlike Pansy and Draco. I told her everything and she listened. "Salazar Slytherin? One of your Grandfathers?" Hermione looked as shocked as I was. "That's why I'm here." I said. Hermione looked sad then a 'I remembered!' look on her face. "I almost forgot!" She shouted while taking out her book. "This! I found out about those scales! Snakes and Reptiles : Those who may have scales on their upper right arm are something called 'ParselBorn'. This can only happen when a relative is able to speak Parseltongue. When a person is ParselBorn they have the ability to turn into a snake. Once they turn 15 they have that ability. Before that age scales may start to show. There is no cure to this. It is very dangerous just like werewolves. They have no control over what they do or who to attack. It all makes sense! You're related to Salazar Slytherin! The most famous Parseltongue ever! But, the snake thing. I know how to handle that. I can brew a memory potion and give it to you right before you turn into a snake. Wait, how old are you?" She asked. "14, birthday's December 23." I replied. "And today's December 1st. We got time." Hermione said. "I'll see if it's okay with Mcgonagall and Dum-" "What are you going to do?" I asked. If it involved Dumbuledore it must be important. "I am going to see if we can use an empty classroom to practice. Every week at 12:00 you turn into a snake for 1 hour. I want to help you! You are my friend." She said, giving me a smile. She did something crazy no one else has ever done. Except Jesse Ellis. He was a Ravenclaw boy. I met him in the Great Hall in my first year. He died in his first year. I was great friends with him. Just like Cedric, he didn't care that I was in Slytherin. I remember what I said to him after he said that. 'We can't be friends, Jesse. It's not right.' I wish I never said that but, I did and I can't change the past. I didn't want to do the same thing again. "Thanks Hermione, that meant a lot to me."
