Poppy

Poppy looked at the ring in Tori's hand for a long moment, the cogs in her brain not quite turning just yet. She was still absorbing all of the information Tori had just given her, heart thundering in her ears as the realization slowly dawned on her. Tori was proposing to her, asking for her hand in marriage. Tori was proposing. Tori is proposing...

She inhaled sharply, taking note of the worried look the taller witch was now wearing. "Are you... are you proposing to me... after we just majorly dueled my practically evil ex?"

Tori nodded, her brows furrowed and her lower lip caught between her teeth. She felt her face flush, a smile breaking out across her lips as she practically launched herself into Tori's arms. One long arm circled her waist, holding her up and in place while she felt the legs against her own shifting to balance the weight.

"Yes, absolutely a thousand times yes, I will marry you." Poppy pulled her head back, lowering her mouth in a firm, insisting kiss against Tori's. She dropped back down, her hand being grasped by long, slender fingers as the tiny gold band was slipped onto her own. She hadn't been this excited and exhilarated in what felt like years. "This has honestly got to be the best day of my life."

She looked up at the dark-haired witch, the exhaustion of their night finally starting to sink in. Poppy suddenly felt far too tired to even stand up straight, her knees starting to buckle. She had never felt so much rage that it exhausted all of her energy, and just as she was about to collapse, Tori's hands were under her, scooping her up into her arms.

"Alright my wee dragon, let's get you home so you can get some rest." Tori's voice rumbled through her, soothing her shot nerves.

"I love you." Poppy mumbled the words against Tori's shoulder, leaning her head against her and circling her arms around the taller witch's shoulders.

"I love you, too, Pop." Tori placed a soft kiss on top of her head before she strode inside the cottage, setting the floo flame for the townhome.

Poppy had never gone through floo bridal style, but she rather enjoyed the soft lick of the green flames against her skin while she was being cradled. Tori's embrace was comforting as she was carried up the stairs, the two of them dropping down onto the bed with an air of fatigue. She immediately stretched her heavy limbs, curling up and tucking herself into Tori's side. She knew this was exactly how she wanted to spend forever.

Poppy smiled widely as the wind whipped through her hair, holding her arms out to either side of her as Highwing dipped them low to the water, dragging her talons over the shimmering crystalline surface. The white fabric of her dress rippled against the wind, the skirt hiked up around her hips. She had missed riding with Highwing, feeling the cold air against her skin, the sense of freedom that filtered through her entire being.

She turned her head to the side, giggling at the sound of Tori's excited hollering as Highwing's mate, Caligo dipped to the side, allowing her fingers to run through the surface of the water. Tori's black robes were whipped aggressively against the current, the curls she had so meticulously pinned into place earlier now loose and flitting against her neck. Her heart skipped a beat when her mahogany skinned beauty turned to her in turn, her chocolate eyes crinkling up with the width of her own smile.

The breeze against them slowed as the two hippogriffs began their descent to the shore, the small grey chick hopping excitedly as her parents landed gently. Tori was down before Caligo's feet had fully stopped moving against the ground, her hands gently gripping Poppy's waist and pulling her down. Poppy placed her hands on Tori's shoulders, her dress slipping back down over her legs as she was spun in a circle before being brought down into a strong embrace.

The cheering of the small crowd behind them erupted even louder than before when they shared a kiss, firm and warm. Poppy pulled away, a small laugh escaping her before she was placed back on solid ground. She hadn't stepped more than two feet away when she was crowded by a flurry of four tall, dark-skinned men. Tori just laughed from the side, prying the men off of her before she was ushered away into a crowd of her friends and family.

"I wasn't expecting all four of them to come in at once." Poppy smoothed her windswept hair back down, her hands damp from the cold lake water.

"Well, you are part of the Finch family now, and with that fact, you now have four older brothers with no sense of personal space." Tori squeezed her hand, the warmth seeping in amongst the chill.

The sun was just finishing its descent over the horizon, and the full moon was high in the sky. The two women climbed the small hill over the clearing, the mooncalf den they'd been tracking for a month in full view. Just as the purple in the sky turned to near-black, the clearing was lit up in the greenish-yellow glow of the dance that they were privy to witness, the design as unique as her love for the woman beside her.

With almost no warning, she was pulled into a tight embrace, another tender kiss placed upon her lips which she was all too happy to return. "Now, my dear, sweet wife. May I have this dance?"

Poppy smiled widely, her heart swelling at the new endearment she would be using all too often. "Victoria, you can have every dance till the end of time."
