❖═━┈┈━═❖

Sofia pulled up with Elena around nine in the morning, she rescheduled everything in Union Bay so Elena could be here.

Elena looked over at me, but she no longer had a fire in her eyes, she looked like a lost puppy and my brow furrowed, watching as she smoothed out her dress. Elena never wore dresses. Pushing the door open from Sofia's jeep, Elena slipped out, turning to look at her best friend once more, I couldn't hear what they were saying, quite frankly, I didn't care. I was pissed off that Elena was so fucking selfish that she put us in this situation. My last two years of freedom were stripped because she couldn't be bothered to tell me she dropped out of school.

Elena shut the door, her head down as she walked over to me, "Got nothing to say now do you?" I snapped, her eyes flying up to me with a newfound fire. Good, I knew how to navigate this Elena, not the Elena that looked like she was coming across a puppy that had been hit by a car.

"Fuck off Mickey," Elena mumbled out, shoving passed me as she walked towards the front door of my father's mansion, and I don't know why it irritated me that she was so comfortable just walking into the house I grew up in. She stopped when she got to the front steps, "Will you take me to get my car from Pa's after? If he lets me keep it," I stepped up to her, scanning down her body, every part of her figure looked tense. Her bottom lip was raw from where she pulled it between her teeth, her eyes had no sparkle in them, and she looked pale.

"Are you scared of your father?"

"Will you answer my question first?" Her hand reached down to play with the ring I had given her three years ago, a ring that was going to be replaced within the next thirty minutes.

"Yes," I shrugged, my hand sliding from her shoulder, caressing the soft skin of her arm before I took her hand, my thumb playing with the ring, "Are you scared of your father Elena?"

"Not scared," she tugged her hand away, turning around to walk into the house, my body hovering close behind her, "I just hate disappointing him."

"And you didn't think about that when you dropped out of college? That his only daughter was a dropout, he moved you out of Union Bay because of your previous misbehavior."

"Do you ever just think that maybe you should listen to yourself before you talk?" Elena snapped, turning abruptly on her heel, shoving me back, "You're the last fucking person to be talking about misbehavior, or did you forget your best friend is a wanted criminal because he tried to kill Sofia? What do you have to offer other than being the world's biggest playboy?" I was stunned, I knew I had hit a nerve with Elena, and I liked that I pissed her off, it made her familiar. "Yeah? Nothing, right? So don't come for me when the only thing you have to offer is your dick."

I laughed, shaking my head, "If you wanted my dick so badly all you had to do was ask."

She blanched, turning back around and waving her hand dismissively, "I don't want something half of Sunbury City has had buried in them."

"You didn't think that three years ago."

And she stopped dead in her tracks again, I loved this, I loved fighting with her, it was like a high that I couldn't get over. "Three years ago, I didn't know how much of an actual asshole you were, I've kept my mouth shut about it," her lips pursed, that deviant sparkle in her eye again, "so don't bring it up. I'm not that desperate girl anymore, where's your father's office, I want to sign my name and get the fuck out of here and away from you."

"Put your claws away wifey," I smirked when I passed her, pressing against her so she was forced to have physical contact, "remember who inherits your father's company," I turned slightly, using the crook of my forefinger to tilt her chin up, "it's not you baby girl, it's me."
