Sitting in Elijah King's office was not what I envisioned today.

The storm was raging on outside, lightning flashes illuminating the office every few minutes. He had pulled me away from Elena thirty minutes ago, we had finally gotten to the point where we could be in the same room together, and I'd never forget the feeling of her dragging her mouth down my throat. When she wasn't forced into a mold she was fun to be around. But Elijah came knocking on the bathroom door, Elena instantly freezing in my arms before she smiled, calling back to her dad while she leaned against the shower wall, letting my hands explore her body.

"Pa," Elena was in the doorway, leaning against it with a casual smile, "You told me to get to know Mickey, how am I supposed to do that if you pull him away from me every time I do."

"Sit," He gestured to the chair beside me but Elena shrugged, walking over to where I was seated, lowering into my lap. "I'm transferring power over to you two, I can't have the company in my name anymore," My hands were curled around Elena's hips, both of us looking at the man in front of us like he grew two heads. "Both companies actually, Ma wants the fashion company to go to you Lena, she says she thinks you're ready."

"Why the rush?" I questioned, guiding Elena further back into my chest, waiting until the room was dark before I pressed a kiss to the sweet spot on Elena's neck, her fingers digging into my thighs.

"You two are ready to take it on, you're married, now comes the business, next comes the heirs."

Elena and I both froze, we hadn't even thought of children, let alone discussed having them soon. My fingers tightened on her stomach, hers tightening around my wrists. We were still young, we had so much life to live before we settled down to be parents. We also needed to get our relationship figured out before bringing a child into this. "Pa," Elena was the first to speak, her breath coming and going quickly, my hands rising and falling with her stomach. "You can't be serious about children right now, I'm not even twenty-one." Elijah looked up when the lightning flashed, eyes hollow but determined.

"Not now," He shrugged, and we let out a shared breath, "but by the time you're twenty-five you should have at least considered it."

That's five years away and manageable.

The front door opened, and Elena's mother ushered in someone. "Lena?" Sofia's voice filled the space, and both of us were relieved to hear that voice, seconds later she and Steve were standing in the doorway of Elijah's office. "Hi, Mr. King." Sofia smiled, skipping across the office to place a kiss on his cheek and give him a hug.

"Hello Sofia, Steve." He nodded toward my best friend, before returning his gaze to Elena and me. "You two will become sitting CEOs effective immediately, your mother and I will be stepping away by the end of the week." I watched as Elena flashed her eyes over to Sofia and then I understood what was happening. Elena knew her father was going to do this to us, she called Steve and Sofia over because they'd be able to read the contract after having to read so many of their own. And with Elijah being so trusting of his daughter's best friend, he wouldn't even notice her lingering behind him. And honestly, right now, I trust Sofia's judgment more than anything when it came to these documents.

Sofia's eyes landed on Elena, her subtle nod being our answer. I leaned forward, grabbed a pen, and signed my name over the line, Elena following right after me. "I'd like a copy of the contract," I told Elijah when Elena and I rose from our seat, "Before we leave Jade Lake if possible."

"Of course, son," Elena took Sofia's hand and Steve held up a backpack, the lightning flashing again, "as soon as the power comes back I'll have it made."
