Alex.

This time, as they walked through the woods, Alex walked behind Chris and Derek, and in front of Scott and Isaac. While they walked, Alex kept quiet and listened to the conversation between Derek and Chris.

"When did you see your sister last?" Chris asked.

"Before the fire." Derek shook his head. "I thought she died with the rest of my family."

Alex's chest twinged. Sure, she wasn't Derek's biggest fan. But to lose your entire family so horrifically? Even Derek didn't deserve that.

Chris nodded in understanding. "Do you have a lock on her scent?"

"No." Derek sighed, shaking his head again.

Chris then looked back at Alex and Scott. "How confident are you two in your skills?"

"Uh, depends on the situation." Alex said nervously.

"Most of the time, I'm just trying not to think about the things I can smell." Scott said.

Chris nodded and faced the front again. "Werewolves like to tear people apart. Usually, wolves only hunt to eat, but Cora and Boyd are hunting for the thrill of the kill. For some primal predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds."

Alex winced. "Lovely."

"What if we set a trap for them?" Scott suggested.

"Where are you thinking?" Chris asked.

"The high school?" Alex suggested. "It will be empty at this time of night."

"It could work." Chris nodded. He reached into his bag again, pulling out a metal decide with a flashing light on the top. "These are ultrasonic emitters. Hunters use them to lure werewolves to them."

He turned it on, and Alex, Derek, Scott, and Isaac all winced as a high-pitched ringing filled their ears. Alex clamped her hands on her ears, trying to block out the noise.

"Jesus Christ." Alex exclaimed as Chris started handing them out. "So we plant these, and it will lead them to the high school?"

"That's the idea, yeah." Chris nodded.

Alex took one of the emitters from him and nodded her head. They headed towards the high school, setting up the devices to lure Cora and Boyd. Once their trap was set, they headed back to the woods, where they were surprised to see Peter waiting for them.

"What are you doing here?" Derek asked his uncle.

"Helping." Peter said. "Deucalion's plan was for you to kill Cora and Boyd."

"Why?" Derek furrowed his brows.

"He thinks you'll be more inclined to join his pack if you have less baggage." Peter shrugged. "I suggest giving up your little hunt before it's too late."

Without even thinking first, Alex stepped forward and glared at Peter. "We're not just going to let them tear innocent people to shreds."

Peter rolled his eyes. "You're still here, I see."

"Watch it." Scott growled. "She's right."

"So they kill a few homeless people, maybe a drunk walking out of the bar too late, so what?" Peter exclaimed. "You two can live in your morally superior world of black and white, but Derek and I live in shades of grey."

"At least he's trying to do the right thing." Alex said, narrowing her eyes at Peter.

"Think of it this way then," Peter turned to Derek. "If you do kill Boyd and Cora, you can always make more werewolves."
