🗣️TW: abuse, depression, murder, loss of a family member
Song: Funeral by Phoebe Bridgers⚰️
--------------------------------------------------------
I was walking into to the parking garage elevator when I got the call, immediately I froze in place. When I was a child, I would probably have been overjoyed by the news, but now here I was, standing in the middle of the garage looking like an idiot.

My only living relative left, my father, was now six feet deep inside the ground. Apparently after all this time, his nearly sixty years of drinking every day finally caugh up with him, washing him away with a massive heart attack. Anyone that knew him also knew that it was just a matter of time.

After a few minutes of standing awkwardly with no emotion in my mind, I decide to just go in to work, hoping to just forget about the events that had occured just ten minutes ago. When I walked in everyone was already there, all just catching up with each other after a weekend away. I gave my normal greetings to the team, none of them seeming to notice the emptiness in my eyes. As I got up to get some coffee Hotch came barreling in with his usual stoic demeanor, explaining that we had a case in deleware along with a "We will debrief on the jett, wheels up in 15." With that you all grabbed your respective go-bags and headed to the tarmac.

Twenty minutes later and we were all sitting in the jet, preparing ourselves to debrief. It was a pretty simple case, a man was killing single mothers who had just won custody battles against their children's fathers. This case was hitting you harder than usual, probably due to your recent loss, but you did your best to shrug it off.

Once you arrived to the precinct you all split off into pairs, Rossi with Reid, Emily with Hotch, and you with JJ and Tara. Hotch had ordered your group to visit the victim's families, and to try and find out if any of the kids fathers could be capable of this. You arrived to the most recent victim's house after a short ten minute drive, hopping out of the car and heading to knock on the door with the girls right behind you.

  Knock Knock Knock

To all of you guys' surprise, you were greeted at the door by a little boy. He looked to be only six years old, he was still crying while he spoke to you. "Hewo?" You just about dropped to the floor when you heard his voice crack from the tears. "Hello there, my name is Y/n and these are my friends JJ and Tara. We are with the police, is it okay if we come in and talk to you about your mommy and daddy?" He looked like he was debating whether to let you in, but then just said "Onwy if you can maked mac and chee, im weally hungwy and I don know how to maked it." With that you were fighting your hardest to hold back tears, and replied "I love mac and cheese, of course I can make you some buddy!" He seemed content with your answer as he moved to the side to let you in.

Five minutes later you were in the kitchen, making a roux whilst the water for the macaroni was waiting to boil. The boy was sat across from me, silently watching as I moved around the kitchen. Once I was done with the sauce and was just waiting for the noodles to finish, I spoke up. "So I told you my name buddy, can I ask what's yours?" he responded a second later "My weal name is Chwistophew but my mommy cawws me chwis" he looked sad at the mention of his late mother.

"Well Christopher, can you tell me about your daddy? Is he a nice daddy or does he get really mean sometimes?" He sat for a moment before saying "You wemind me of mommy so you can caww me chwis" He said as he ran over to hug me tightly. The other girls looked shocked, but I could only stand there for a minute, collecting myself before picking the boy up and holding him as I cooked. The girls somehow managed to look even more shocked as you danced around the kitchen with Chris in your arms, rubbing his back every so often whilst talking with him. You were known around the office to not particularly love meeting victim's families, much less to hold their children.
