Forget Me Not

Remember when I came up with a bunch of headcanons for the space crew? Well, guess what? To the person who requested a oneshot on Ellipsis: Here it is!

     Per tradition: Ready! Steady! GO!

Forget-Me-Nots were not just the best flowers, but the best type of any living organism in Ellipsis's opinion. They were small, with a shade of blue that reminded him of a clear sky- one he'd never seen since the day he'd been sent to his prisonlike room.

They were always clustered together in groups and not a single bud would be left alone by itself. The sky blue flowers weren't very outstanding, or popping out, or extravagant in any way, but their name was what made them the wonder they were.

     Forget me not.

Forget me not, like how Ellipsis hoped his life would be. He dreamed of a version of him where he was just an unassuming marker like any other marker was. Just a name that popped out, but otherwise completely normal.

He wished to be a fantasy character that he'd created in his head: Forget-Me-Not Marker, with modest light blue hair and flowers sprouting off of his head and shoulders. One that resided next to a tree in the forest, with a few close friends and a peaceful life.

Too bad that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Too bad for him, an eerie creature who was often called a freak of nature by people who didn't know him. The space gang treated him like a friend who they cared for equally, but anyone else who knew him stayed wary every time they saw him.

The only other person who cared was Purple. But Purple cared for anyone and everyone, so that didn't make a difference.

Ellipsis had pitch black hair, black dots around his neck, forearms, and shins, and woefully pale skin. His eyes were a blinding red that chilled people's blood every time they saw them. He was scrawny but tall, with bony hands that pointed to edges at his fingertips and ribs that stuck out like the sun in a clear day. He tried to mute his strange features down with simple clothing that covered up most of his body, but he had no such outcome.

If only he was Forget-Me-Not marker.

And on one peculiar day, he got out to visit Moonstone, who was one of the few that didn't get scared when they saw him. He contacted Glitch and was teleported into Moonstone's den in no time.

"Oh, hi!" Moonstone said, getting up from her cross-legged meditating position. "What's up?"

"...hi," Ellipsis muttered, not knowing where to start.

"You don't need to be that shy with me, you know," Moonstone noted. "I may not be a good therapist like Purple is but I can keep secrets."

"I know," Ellipsis replied. He shifted his position and gripped the edge of his jacket since he was still uncomfortable with the subject.

After a moment of silence, Moonstone smiled. "What is this about?"

"Soo... you know about that one blue flower? With the clusters and they're called Forget Me Nots and everything? They're... I dunno, like the person I'll never be," Ellipsis started.

And once he started, he was off explaining his worries to Moonstone. Ellipsis, who was almost on the verge of tears, just slumped down sadly while Moonstone put her hand on Ellipsis's head and ruffled his hair.

"Honestly, I think you'd be better off adapting with how you are now. Life may not be the best, but it's better than it could've turned out. Restarting your life would just mean ditching your previous beginning for another one, and it'd be harder to start again- especially if markers know your past. Your life is hard as it is, that I know. But it's only going to be harder if you try to mold it the way you want it instead of adapting to the flow," she told him. "Plus- every friend group needs a cinnamon roll, am I right?"

Ellipsis smiled. Experiences after experiences, and only then did he realize a single thing.

He was good where he was at, and staying there would be one of the best decisions he'd ever make.
