Chapter 10
For the new students of The Academy For The Aces, it was officially their first day of classes. The grand doors creaked open, welcoming them to a world of possibilities. Among whispers of legends and mysteries, the young Aces stepped in with excitement and trepidation. This day marked both the beginning and, for some of them, even the end of their journeys at the prestigious academy, as not everyone had the willpower to push through the challenges of attending the academy. Many students had enrolled in the academy, but not all had graduated.
Their first class of the day was with Professor Florian Liú, a young, vibrant man with dark brown eyes that sparkled with knowledge and enthusiasm. His tousled black hair was complemented by a neatly groomed beard. His ability was Arboreality.
"Hello class, I am Professor Florian Lui, and I will be teaching you Mastery," he said to the class.
Faith was quite excited about the class. Though at first, she had a bit of animosity towards the academy, she was slowly coming to like it. However, her ability was telling her that there was something very wrong.
"In this class, I'll impart the profound knowledge of honing your abilities to the point of intuitive replication," Professor Lui explained. "Through a fusion of diligent practice, self-awareness, and understanding, you'll learn to effortlessly replicate the peak potential of your unique powers without conscious effort," he finished.
"I'm a bit nervous about this class. I heard some of the second-year students mention that Professor Florian's classes are a bit...odd," Antheia whispered to Faith and Daiyu, who sat next to her.
"Odd? How so?" Faith questioned.
"For today's class, we'll be utilizing the academy's garden," Professor Florian said, "Follow me, students," he instructed, and walked outside of the classroom. Chairs screeched against the floor as the students got up in a disorderly manner. Students bumped into each other as they tried to leave the classroom all at once. Faith, Antheia, and Daiyu waited for the crowd of students to diffuse through the door before following behind them. However, they were not the only ones who did so.
"Princess Antheia," a voice said behind them, and Antheia's head turned in the direction of the voice. It was the same ginger-haired boy from orientation smiling at them as he walked in their direction.
"Malcom please, for the last time, just call me Antheia," Antheia said a bit annoyed.
"Right...Antheia," he said, correcting himself, then looked to Faith and Daiyu, oh right, I'm Malcom Edison. I'm Princ...I mean, Antheia's roommate," Malcom stated, extending his hand, which Faith shook, and Daiyu followed after, firmly shaking his hand.
"Malcom, meet Daiyu Cao and Faith Holmes," Antheia introduced.
"Holmes, Holmes?" Malcom questioned surprised.
"What other Holmes would attend The Academy For The Aces, Malcom? Yes, Holmes Holmes," Antheia clarified.
"I'm a big fan of your Grandfather," Malcom grinned.
"And I am of yours," Faith responded. It's true, apart from delving into the world of fiction, Faith has always been a big fan of science, especially Physics. Though learning about the mechanics of a lightbulb doesn't seem that enjoyable, for Faith, it was.
Professor Florian Lui led the students into the garden within the grounds of the academy. As they stepped into the lush green realm, the air was filled with a gentle hum of natural energies.
"Each of you is assigned to a different plant in the garden; your task today is to engage in a silent communion with your assigned plant and discern the plant's needs and desires," Professor Florian explained. Light chuckles from the students were heard, and Malcolm lifted his hand in question. Professor Florian nodded.
