Chapter 15

"Onion!" Madame Lavigne called out, and the stumpy little Leprechaun showed up in a puff of smoke, with a leather satchel around his neck.

"Y-y-yes, Madame," Onion answered nervously.

"Please give each one of the students the items that I assigned," Madame Lavigne instructed.

"Your task for today is to determine what significance these items hold about your ability," Madame Lavigne stated, her eyes gleaming with a knowing glint. "I know some of you may need more time, hence you'll all demonstrate or share what you've learned from your items next class."

Onion scurried across the room and handed each student their respective items from the satchel. Faith received an hourglass, Daiyu was given a toy army, though the commander seemed to have a broken leg, Antheia received a simple metal spoon, and Romeo was given a blank sheet of paper. Each student held their item, trying to decipher its hidden meaning, carefully selected by Madame Lavigne.

"Excuse me, Madame Lavigne, but what can I possibly learn from a spoon?" Antheia questioned with evident discontent, her brow furrowing. Other students also raised questions about the seemingly odd items they had been given.

"And what am I to learn from a broken toy commander and his toy army?" Daiyu added, her tone curious yet skeptical.

A small smile played on Madame Lavigne's lips as she addressed their concerns. "Settle down, students. For now, these items may seem ridiculous but think carefully and ponder their significance. You have until the next class to explore their meaning," she said.

"I'll give you a hint. Don't overthink it, but think outside of the box," she added, leaving them with a tantalizing clue to unravel the mystery.

Faith couldn't help but wonder about the hourglass she held in her hands. Its delicate sand flowed steadily, marking the passage of time. What could it symbolize to her ability? Perhaps it represented the importance of timing and seizing the right moment to wield her powers.

As the students contemplated their enigmatic items, Faith's gaze naturally drifted to Prince Andrew. He stood near one of the windows, his expression pensive as he gazed outside. On his desk sat a simple mirror, and she wondered what significance it held for him. Her intuition sparked, pondering if there was another layer of meaning that only Madame Lavigne knew.

"Ms. Holmes, is there something you'd like to share with Prince Andrew?" Madame Lavigne's inquiry brought Faith back to the present, her cheeks flushing with a hint of embarrassment.

"Oh, um, not really," Faith replied, trying to collect her thoughts. "I was just... observing."

Madame Lavigne's knowing smile returned, and she seemed to see beyond Faith's response. "Observing can be quite revealing, can't it?"

"Homework on the first day of class!" Antheia groaned as she waved her tree branch in the air.

"Woah, careful with that thing Princess," Malcolm warned, as he caught the branch mid-air before it struck him in the face.

Faith, Malcolm, Romeo, Daiyu, and Antheia all walked to the dormitories together. Antheia seemed a bit despondent about Madame Lavigne's class.

"I mean, yours isn't that bad, she gave me toys," Daiyu interjected.

"Ohh but none of those can top mine. I was given a screw," Malcolm deadpanned, and everyone burst into a fit of laughter.

"Our items may truly seem useless or ridiculous, but I do believe they hold some significance to us," Faith inputted.
