Benji
I woke up alone on the couch still in my dress and hating everything in the known universe. Mason included for hopping in the shower before me but I guess it couldn't be helped. Once he was out I hopped in, didn't even get a chance to see him really, but I'm sure he felt just as terrible as I did. I showered up and slipped on some underwear, jeans, a black and grey baseball tee and shoved a beanie on my head, we slept in a little late, but we didn't need to leave for another two hours, so I atleast had time to make breakfast.
I stepped out of my room and knocked on his door, but he didn't answer, even though I heard some talking in there. 'Oh shit, work call... I'll just make him something too.' I pulled away and walked downstairs, beginning to throw together some hangover cure of eggs bacon and pancakes. I stretched up with a groan as the eggs sizzled on the pan, the sound drilled into my head but I needed food especially if I'm gonna drive Mason to the airport.
Last night was awesome, but a little too much, I don't even remember the end of the concert last night. 'Try to plan a night together and I black out for half of it' I thought, rubbing my head to assuage the angry demon in my brain. Hearing footsteps behind me I smiled "Morning, I made breakfast" Mason cleared his throat "Juji" I turned around. Mason was fully dressed, groomed, and had a bag slung around his back, I tilted my head "Are you leaving?" I signed. He inhaled and nodded "I uh... I figured I'd... Head out early by myself, I need... I need some time with myself." He said.
I stared him down blankly, time by himself?... What did I do? I set down the spatula and walked around "Why the sudden change of heart?" I stood in front of him, gripping the bottom of my shirt. He looked away as I stared up at him "I just really need some time with myself, okay?" he said but refused to lock eyes with me.
He was clearly going through something, but what? He knows he can tell me anything. I pulled back and nodded, trying to atleast give him the space he needs right now "Okay" I said and shrugged "Let me know when you get there?" he nodded "Of course and let me know when your mom gets here." I nodded back and gestured the stove "Breakfast?" he shook his head and pointed "The cabs outside." He said.
'Yeah, dig the knife in.' I tried to push down the pain he was causing "Okay then... Be safe" I said. 'I'm not reaching out...' my arms dangled at my sides. I wanted to hug him and beg him not to go yet but I wasn't gonna be the asshole here...
His warm palm cups my cheek before I feel his lips just barely touch the corner of my forehead "I'll be back" he whispered before walking away. I hear the door open... and close. I stood in the kitchen staring at the kitchen counter until the smell of burning food came into my nose.
"Shit!" I run to the stove and pulled it off the burner. I brushed my hair back and sighed "Shit..." I trailed off, now it was just me and Bender who looked up at me and whined softly. I reached down to scratch his head when he stood up and walked over to the front door, whining softly while staring at me. I sighed "Wait for him to actually leave and I'll take you for a walk." I signed, I talked to Bender before the accident and its not gonna change, he didn't understand me before anyway.
