Theres few things I'd run butt naked for.
At the top of that list is the scream I heard from Benji.
I ran out into the kitchen, she stood in the kitchen pointing to the back yard, sure enough, the security light was on. I walked up "What happened" she frantically tried moving her hand but trembled so much it was hard to tell what signs she did. She squirmed in frustration "There was someone on the back fence trying to climb over-" she coughed and held her throat. I held up my hand "Go hide, lock the doors" I said, grabbing a nearby pan. I went to the backyard, thanking myself for getting manic and building a fence so my neighbors wouldn't call the police, after looking around I couldn't see anything to prove there was someone there at any time.
Just to be sure I grabbed a robe and stepped out the front, locking the door behind me as I did, it was a narrow street decorated with tall bushes and hidden corners. Not a single sign of life in sight, I walked back inside, locked all the outside doors and windows, and double-checked everywhere before tapping on the bed "It's safe" I said.
I stood, waiting for her to come out but she wouldn't, so I knelt down, she wasn't there, I narrowed my eyes feeling a slap of panic before some of the stuff began to move. A suitcase wiggled its way out to reveal Benji hiding behind random suitcases and my back support pillow. I helped her out mildly impressed, she barricaded herself into the corner using everything from under the bed and hid herself completely. In like minutes too, super-fast 'Almost like she's done... this... before...' my proud smile fell.
Over the past few weeks we've been together its been wonderful, it has, waking up with her makes everything so easy. But the more time I spent the more damage I realize Carter did. I pulled her out and into my arms as we sat on the floor "You okay?" she nodded and curled into my chest.
I crossed my legs and held her against me "I didn't see anyone, I guess the light and the scream scared him off" he said. She sniffled and hugged herself "I'm sorry but its one of the reasons I'm trying to move, this neighborhood is terrible." I whispered, rubbing her thigh. She pulled back when she was calm again "Okay, I understand" she signed then shifted to stand up.
"I'm sorry" I took her hand before she could finish and kissed it "Its alright... Let me throw on some clothes" I said. She shook her head "Your shower?" "I don't want to leave you alone right now" she pouted her lip and shrugged "I could always join you" she signed. I smirked and pulled her hips to mine "I like that idea better" I said, starting my lips at her rosy cheeks and down her neck as she guided us to the bathroom.
The next day was way worse than before, turns out I scheduled a meeting for ridiculously early on my day off to help out a Hong Kong client. Car wouldn't start so I had to wake Benji up at 7 am on her day off to drive me to work, then the translator was late and that made my boss upset.
