Benji

When all the authorities show up I'm taken away in an ambulance while Mason's being questioned, I assumed they wouldn't let me see him on purpose. I'm in the hospital for a day or two by myself before Sarah finally comes in, we cry a few hours before she catches me up: Carter died en route to the hospital, Noel was down the hall with a concussion and knife wound, Mason was being questioned, and so were the two women who tried to help.

They'd already come by and questioned me up and down, it was hard for them to be accusing of me I could tell. We'd learned apparently someone filled out paperwork wrong and Carter was free just like that. The lead detective was supposed to call and let me know but he never did.

One phone call.

All of this.

Could have been stopped.

With one phone call.

Sarah kept me company until they discharged me, I wanted to go home originally but the police informed me that Carter had been stalking me for weeks. He put cameras around the house, in my car, my shower, and he was found in possession of several undergarments of mine, my anxiety medicine, and my passport. He really did make a habit of taking everything I have and just ripping it out from under me. Atleast he won't be doing that anymore. Sarah insists they have something planned, I figured it's a hotel, which is fine honestly, I'll sleep in an alley before we go back to the apartment.

She wheeled me out the front doors "I'm thinking pasta for dinner, sound good?" I nodded, tugging the jacket over my shattered arm. Fortunately it was just that, some scratches and bruises, and trauma. Two types. Super fun. I looked up to see she was wheeling me to Mason's car, I bit my lips as Sarah helped me in, a small part of me hoped to see him in it, but there was nothing. Just two coffees and a 12 pack of donuts as Sarah promised. I was grateful for them and her, its not the second time she's driven me home from the hospital after Carter put me in there.

"He was there for weeks?"

"Weeks"

"And he was messing with you and using cell phone jammers and shit?"

She shook her head, looking back at the road as they drove "... Kid, can I talk to you?" she couldn't see my signs since she was driving "Yeah" I said. She took a deep breath "You... Love Mason, right?" the question is a little surprising but "Yes" that doesn't mean I don't know. She nodded "Good... That's good... Because he did that for you and granted, in his position I might have done the same thing, but that's my bed." She said. She's twisting the steering wheel cover "I want both of you in good hands, okay? Because this kind of thing can change you as a person." She said.

My eyes are watering, does she think I don't know that? That I haven't thought about that every hour?! I take a deep breath, she's right to be concerned, and knowing her she probably had this talk with Mason as well. She clears her throat "I just needed to say that... I'm sorry." She said, I waved my hand "No, I know this is poor timing but... It needs to be done now." She said. It takes me a few minutes to realize we're not going to the apartment, it dawns on me when we turn down a street that we're at the house I showed him.

I blinked over at her as she pulled in "How did...?" "Mason told me about it, we talked with your coworker, explained what happen and he let us move you in." she said. I looked up as someone exited the house and smiled, out came a couple, one a buff and tall man with a black trim beard and shaggy hair, another was a scrawny man wearing a black skirt and off the shoulders tee shirt with trim hair. I grinned widely "Riley! Mark! Ahhh~" Riley fake screamed for me as they waved his hands and ran over. He helped me out of the car and stood me up so they could hug me properly while Mark laughed and crossed his arms "I'll help you inside, theres some others that wanna talk to you. Okay?" he asked. I groaned and shook my head "No cops" he waved his hands "No no no, no police, just friends, alright?" he asked.

I tilted my head and was guided inside the door before Riley kissed my cheek "Be right outside" they said and stepped outside. I narrowed my eyes but stepped inside to the kitchen entrance area, it was already under construction, of course Riley would waste no time. A footstep makes me turn to see a man wearing a tight blue suit smiling warmly at me "Beautiful, you are worth all this trouble" he said. I widened my eyes at the admittedly gorgeous man before he's shoved from behind "Back off, I'm teasing" he said behind him. He stepped out behind the hall to reveal Mason wearing a grey suit with a muted purple tie. I breathed out and ran up, trying to hug him but he stopped me "Your arm, be careful" he whispers on deaf ears. His arms curl possessively around me in their natural spots, one in the curve of my waist, the other fisted in my hair.

The moment his scent hits my nostrils tears start falling silently, it had been too long and only a few days, I was terrified I'd never see him again. I pulled back, resting my forehead on his "How are you out? Did you pay bail?" I signed. Mason shook his head "Well no I'm... Free" he gestured the man in the suit "Benji this is Mr. Cain, he's Noel's brother" he said. My stomach sank "Talk for me" I sign to Mason before meeting Mr. Cain's eyes "I can't begin to apologize for what happened." I said. Mr. Cain shook his head "My brother knew what he was walking into, he's handled worse things." He said.

I tilted my head 'Worse things' "We're grateful to Mason for uh... Showing up when he did, let's say. I was happy to offer my services as a lawyer. Not to mention it was easy, I walked out with him 20 minutes after I walked in, charges dropped." He explained. I smiled and shook my head "Still, please, let me know if there's anything we can do." Mason said. Mr. Cain waved his hand "Our family may contact you soon about a job opportunity" he said casually, picking up the briefcase as he met Mason's eyes "I suggest you take it." He said. Without another word, he turned and left "Mason, what was that?" I asked.

Mason only smiled at me "He's a friend, trust me, I'd never make an enemy out of him." He said jokingly but there was a hint of something else behind his eyes. Feeling his hands cup my face feels so good I want to forget everything outside of us "But I'm here and I'm yours again." He whispered. He rests his forehead on mine comfortably "Benji... you should know... I...I-""-I know" I bite my lip after it leaves my throat. I knew the moment it happened what he'd done, and I'd spend the rest of my life figuring out a way to pay it back to him. "Once you did it, I felt the safest I'd been in years. I slept 18 hours." I said.

He stroked my cheeks "So its settled then... You know how much I love you" I choked on a sob once I see tears start rolling down his cheek "and you know how that's not going to change anytime soon... I'm completely yours, Benji, I always have been." He said. He picked up my free hand and kissed it "and you're mine" he said deeply, his tone trembles my spine "I'm not waiting anymore, not biding my time until you're taken, you are mine. He said.

I nodded complicity, we belonged to each other the whole time, I hadn't felt so uniquely myself until I was around him again. He holds me in his palm and whispers everything I want to hear no matter what and I'll hold him up the best I can.

"I love you, Juji"

"I love you Mason,"

"Ooo, can you say my name like that again?"

"Mason?"

"Hmm... There is a mattress in the other room."

"Down boy."
