Demeter's (Mother Nature) P.O.V

"What do you mean she's gone!" I yell at the nymphs as they scatter across the throne room in panic.

The room lit with glowing yellow flowers, my favorite, cover the entire ceiling. I was practically fuming, my long claw like nails dinging into my throne that is made of wood, vines, and flowers. The flowers caress me trying to calm me down, but it doesn't help. My daughter is missing and I can't sense her anywhere on the earth. She couldn't disappear just like that, .... Unless ..... No, he wouldn't dare. Would he? That would explain why I can't sense her. Oh that fool! Taking her to such a place she won't be able to survive for long in a place for the dead.

'Death, I believe you have done something stupid, now please return her to where she belongs.'

I send the thought to him. All gods and goddesses have the power to communicate mentally, so it simplifies things.

'I do not know what you accuse me of my love.' He responds back 'because I believe she is where she belongs'

He dares to say that!? Outrage fills me but I respond calmly. After all, millions of centuries of being the goddess of corn, grain, and harvest I was not someone to be trifled with. I was called the goddess of the earth, of agriculture, and of fertility. Without me no crop or plant will grow.

'Death, my dear, you have violated the rules by taking her ' I state

'Oh but my love I have not taken her' he chuckles

Realization hits me

'You used our son, Thanatos, to get her didn't you' I say sounding calm and collected but inside I was raging and I'm sure my entire realm could feel it.

'Why I wouldn't say used, he volunteered, so I have not broken the rules since the deal was between you and me' he smugly says at having found a loop hole.

"Sephtis" I say my voice stern as I use his real name.

It is never wise for a god or goddess to give away their real names. We always use our title names, because our real names hold power that we wouldn't want another god to have. Death of course made that mistake when we were together. Of course I never told him mine. Demeter may seem like my real name but it is not. It is the name that the humans gave me as my title even though my real title name is Life. I wasn't stupid enough to give away my true name which only I know and of course Mother Earth, because I knew better but I was older than Death by many centuries and he was only born a couple thousand years ago. Deaths parents are Persephone and Hades, the idiot that toke my daughter from me. Persephone being my daughter made Death my grandson in human terms. Most would be repulsed if they were human but gods did not care for such titles. If I wished I could have children with my son Thanatos and no one would even bat an eyelash. Obviously though I would do no such thing, I have no wish to bear a child of anyone with the title of Death or who is going to receive the title, again.

'I believe our talk is over, Demeter' he says smoothly hanging up mentally on me.

I bang my fist against the armrest of my throne in frustration. If it weren't for his ambition I would have my daughter now without fear of him using her, but instead I had to hide her away from him and he still ends up getting her. I get up my long dark green dress trailing behind me. Walking through the glass like hallways with life shining everywhere I catch a glimpse of myself, perfect chiseled face and body my head held high, green long hair to my hips, pale skin, and my yellow bright eyes.

At the moment there were yellow bright flowers in my hair showing my rage as they hissed slightly, they would always react with my mood no matter what. The area of my neck, collar bone, and shoulders is covered in bark just like trees have on the outside. It was always there since I was born, but I suspect it comes with the title so most likely when the title is passed on to my dear daughter she will inherit the traits of Life. First I have to get her back and I intend to bring my daughter home and to her rightful place, at the throne of Life. I walk into my favorite garden full of all the worlds plants and trees. Bending down I touch one of the flowers with lovely red petals hearing it talk to me. Getting back up I head deeper into the garden until I'm in the forest area then I stop and call out to my mother who is referred to as Mother Earth, Gaia.

'Gaia I wish to speak to you' I send out my thought to her, getting a responds faster than I thought.

'I will come' she says

Not seconds later she starts to form from the ground. Half of her body in the ground while the rest was out. Being Mother Earth means she can never be unattached from the earth so she must always be half in and half out of the world. Her hair with shades of blue, green, and brown. She looks almost like me but she was part of the world more than I am because obviously she is Earth.

'What did you call me for?' She asks

'I wish for you to ask Zeus for permission to enter Deaths realm without his knowing' I say

'Why do you not ask him yourself?' She says

'I have other things to do than to talk to him' I spit out angrily.

After Zeus helped Hades take my other daughter, Persephone, I was in no mood to ever talk to him. Good thing I got her back, but I always have to return her for four months in which I show my displeasure.

'You can tell him that if I lose another daughter to the under realms I will never let another plant grow for eternity' I say

'You would leave me barren?' She gasps

'Yes mother I would. For if I do not get my new daughter back you will be left barren because there will be no one to take the title of Life and to give you life' I say back completely serious.

'Fine. I will send your word to him, and I will help you find her.' She says having no other choice unless she wanted to be lifeless forever.

'Thank you mother' I say as I watch her fall back into the earth leaving white roses in her place.

Walking back I call to one of the warrior nymphs.

"What is your name?" I ask the beautiful maiden

"I am Petal, your majesty" she says bowing her head down in respect

"You will go to the world of the humans until I give you the signal to retrieve my daughter. I give you my blessing, for this will help you survive the realm of Death. If you fail though, I will have your head and send you to Death, do you understand?" I ask

A little fear shows through the warrior nymphs eyes but she masks it with understanding. I will not tolerate failure and she knows it. With the swish of my hand she leaves to the human world bowing slightly at me. I walk back to my throne and do the only thing I can do for the moment. Wait.
