A few days passed and the Cohen family resources were dwindling at an alarming rate. Ivan smiled to himself.

Momo: [Ivan! You seem to be in a good mood these days.]

"Of course, everything's going according to plan." Ivan smiled at the adorable feline-like creature floating in the air.

Momo: [I'm just happy to see you smile again, just remember that I'll always be here whenever you need me.]

Ivan's heart grew warm. Yes, no matter what there were still a lot of people who loved and cared for him. He gently stroked the head of his adorable system.

Two days ago, the base's military personnel discovered an abandoned research institute. It was rumoured to contain very vital information on zombies and the apocalypse as a whole. Even if that information turned out to be false, there was still a lot of equipment and other extensive research data that was not readily available elsewhere.

The base's headquarters called a meeting and decided to make a formal request to the Pyro association. This mission was going to be incredibly dangerous due to the high number of high level mutant plants and zombies surrounding the area.

Ivan was very interested in this research Institute, so he didn't waste much time in accepting the request. The Pyro association would be working alongside the military albeit in separate parts of the institute. After discussing the plan, they were ready to leave.

Ivan stared at Zane in full military gear and his heart skipped a beat, he looked so handsome. Zane smiled politely at Ivan. As much as he wanted to kiss Ivan right now, they were in public and they weren't in a relationship yet. How he wished he could just hold Ivan in his arms. Ivan smiled back while trying to calm his racing heart.

This time, Pyro association's main team was dispatched for this mission. This included the girls, Leon, Dominic, His main subordinates and the twins. Ivan glanced at the cheating couple nearby and couldn't help but roll his eyes. Jade insisted on coming along, and Dominic just couldn't say no. Ivan sighed and walked towards his revamped vehicle. He was tired of their shit.

After a few more exchanges, the two groups hurried towards the research Institute. There were barely any zombies on the road and the mission proceeded smoothly. A little too smoothly. Ivan frowned. They had almost reached the research institute and there were almost no zombies in sight. But according to the Intel they received, this place is supposed to be crawling with mutant zombies. Ivan was on high alert, he couldn't let his guard down.

"There aren't alot of zombies around, but there is an alarming amount of mutant plants, be on your guard." Calantha said solemnly.

Ivan nodded and relayed this information to the neighbouring team.

They soon arrived at their destination, and split up according to plan.

Ivan looked around. The vegetation around the research institute was unusually lush. When the car drove through the entrance, it was as if they had been transportated to some queer form of tropical jungle. There were no mutated animals, and only a sparse number of regular zombies could be seen lurking around.

Since the apocalypse began, both flora and fauna have mutated lot, but they weren't nearly as much as a threat as zombies. So the major bases didn't really bother with them as much.

The vehicle drove directly to the main door of the institute. Everyone got off cautiously examining the building before them.
