chapter eleven

ace de santis

i wake up to noah getting into my bed

i get out of bed and go downstairs to make breakfest

i have cooks but lately with everything going on and eilish bringing dinners every night there's no need to waste there time

there on paid time off

i make italian hot chocolate since noah likes it more than american hot chocolate

noah comes into the kitchen and sits on one of the stools

"did you sleep well?"i ask noah shrugs

i pour noah the hot chocolate i made

"what's for breakfest?"noah asks "french toast and bacon"i say

i fill noah's plate and hand it to him "i don't want bacon"noah says "you need protein"i say

i fill myself a plate and sit on one of stools by noah and eat

"muna's coming over later"noah mumbles i nod

"do you know when jordan is coming back from his trip?"noah asks "i'm not sure yet"i say

my mama holds my hand as my doctor cleans my arms and wraps them i wince at the alcohol seeping into my cuts

"estas bien amor?"mama asks "si, estoy bien"i mumble

"are you returning to school?"muna asks i nod "i'll have bodyguards our age"i sign to her she nods and hugs me

the only people i'm not nonverbal with right now is my dad, embry and my nonno

"here"muna says as she hands me a pack of cigarette "i don't smoke without jordan but i will smoke these when he gets back from his trip"i sign "i love you"muna says as she kisses my face i pull away

my daughter comes into ace's office

"i'm going home"muna says "be safe"i say

"i'm having jo follow you"ace says "why?"muna asks "noah hasn't been to school in weeks and paparazzi is getting antsy, i don't want you ran off the rode"ace says muna nods "thank you"she says

i hug my daughter and kiss her head "i love you"i say "love you too"i say

ace gets up and hugs muna "bye pops"muna says "bye kiddo"ace says

i close ace's office door

"should i get noah an animal?"ace asks "like a bat, he likes bats"ace says i laugh "i'm pretty sure it's illegal to have a pet bat"i say

"i'm the leader of two mafias i'm pretty sure the law doesn't apply to me or you anymore"i say

"how much are bats?"ace asks "i have no clue"i say he opens his laptop

"noah sleeps during the day and is awake all night he and bats are bacially related"ace mumbles

"what about a kitten"i say "you don't have to walk them like dogs or use special lighting like bats, they go to the bathroom in literboxes and there only mean if they don't like you"i say "this is why i love you"ace says

"but a bat is so much cooler"ace says "do you really want an animal flying around your house that eats rats?"i ask "dead or live rats?"ace asks "ace your 36 a flying animal while you run two mafias and part of russia is going to be a lot of work"i say

ace sighs "i know"he says "noah would like a kitten better"ace says

"and jordan and muna like kittens so it won't be a problem"he adds

"i'll buy him one when jordan is back and when noah is back at school"ace says i nod

i go into my dad's office

"can i move my mattress into the library?"i ask "yeah"my dad says

embry and i go into my room and move my box spring, my mattress and foam topper into the library

"how are you feeling?"embry asks as he helps me put my sheets on my bed "i'm fine"i say

embry hugs me "you are an amazing kid"he says

"thank you"i mumble "and arlo didn't deserve you" he says i smile into his shoulder

embry leaves the library

eilish comes into my office "hey em"eilish says embry waves

"how was ireland?"i ask "it was business as usual"eilish says

"i put the prepped meals in the fridge, i made lasagna with bacon bits because i know you've been craving it and then for tomorrow night i made pesto pasta with angel hair noodles"eilish says i hug him slipping money into his back pockets

"how is noah?"eilish asks "he's moved into the library"i say "it's spacious"embry says

"i love the library here, i'd live in there"eilish says "for real"embry says

"anyways i was just wondering how noah's doing"eilish says "thank you"i say "oh also i got a new motorcycle and was wondering if noah wants it"eilish adds "noah on a motorcyle is an absolute no, he drives like dax"i say eilish nods "does muna want a motorcyle?"eilish asks "isha will murder me if i get muna a motorcyle"embry says

"isha is so scary"eilish mumbles "maybe i'll ask santiago if jordan wants it once jordans feeling better"eilish says i nod "i think that'll be good for jordan"i say

"bye love you both"eilish says he hugs me and then hugs embry

"hey kiddo"eilish says i sit up from bed "i'm leaving, but i love you"eilish says i get up and hug him "love you too"i sign he smiles softly

"does muna smoke or vape?"i ask "no, i don't want her to"embry says

"why not?"i ask "because i don't want her lungs fucked up"embry says

"do you let noah smoke?"embry asks "yeah, he doesn't smoke often but i'm fine when he does it"i say

"muna can smoke once she's 18 but i don't want her smoking this young"embry says i nod
