"I didn't tell him Dad. I'm just not ready yet."
Her dad didn't speak for a moment, and she was unsure why when it wasn't much of Cam's business anyway even if he was her friend.
"Just get to it before someone else does. This town is small."
Her dad obviously wasn't trying to scare her yet, his words sent goosebumps down her spine and now she was in desperate need to change the subject.
"How was work?" Arya asked, hoping her dad would get the idea she didn't want to talk about the pregnancy anymore.
Arya then shoved a forkful of green beans into her mouth. The soy sauce lingered in her mouth, just as she put a fork full of steak into her mouth after.
"It was good, busy as always. I'll probably be out the door before you're awake again tomorrow. Figured I'll leave you one of my cards if you want to get breakfast or anything. Or, if you find anything for the baby."
She smiled. Living with her dad was already going better than she expected. She thought that living here with him would be like spending time in a prison where she could do nothing all day even though she knew he wasn't like that.
Her mom hadn't even crossed her mind until that moment. But she refused to get emotional over it when she was having such a good day. Her mom and Tom were the least of her worries now.
"Thank you, Dad. I appreciate you so much." She smiled.
The two continued to chat about their day and the football game that would be on that night.
Arya yawned, scrapping her scraps into the garbage can and putting her plate and utensils in the dishwasher. She said goodnight to her dad and headed to the previous floor where she got showered and did her skin care routine.
When she finally laid in bed, taking in the room around her, she smiled. Happy with how she had organized it the day before. She had two more bags to unpack but, left them where they were for the night.
She unlocked her phone, remembering Cam had given her his number and she decided to shoot him a quick text.
'Hey Cam! It's Arya. Hope you're still alive.' She smiled.
She hadn't remembered the last time she had that much fun with a friend. Obviously, her and Bella had fun but, it didn't ever feel like this. She hoped more than anything her friendship with Cam wouldn't change. Not because she had no other friends, well that to but, she genuinely liked spending time with him.
She figured she should fill Bella in on everything that was going on down here, even if she had betrayed her.
Arya knew Bella would be so intrigued by her meeting Cam so, why not let her in on it.
Arya missed Bella as she had expected to and just when she was about to call her, her phone rang, her mom's name popping up on the screen. She waited a moment, hesitantly before she decided to answer and put the phone to her ear.
"Hello?" She questioned.
Arya wasn't sure as to why her mother was calling after she had just kicked her out less than two days ago. It seemed abnormal and it confused her like everything else her mother did.
"Hey Arya, just wanted to say that I miss you."
Her mother paused before she spoke again, a sigh escaping from the other end of the phone.
"I'm sorry honey. I want you to come home, I was just upset."
Arya was not only shocked with her mother but, her calm tone infuriated her as well. How could she just give up on her when something so big had happened and she had made it even worse. She didn't want to deal with this and planned to stand her ground no matter how much she wanted to cave to her mother.
