Chapter 4.

Nerbiyosong umupo si Seraphina sa tabi ni Damian, kinuha ang tuwalya mula sa bulsa at sinimulang dahan-dahang punasan ang noo nito. Maingat siyang nagmamasid habang unti-unting nagigising si Damian.

Bigla, bumukas ang mga mata nito, at ang kanyang malalim na gintong mga mata na tila tumagos sa kaluluwa ni Seraphina.

They stared at each other for a few moments, neither of them blinking. Finally, Damian spoke in a cold voice, asking who she was and what she was doing there.

We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity before he finally spoke again in a cold voice.

"Who are you?"

I opened my mouth to speak, but no words seemed to come out. I had been shocked at the sight of Damian lying in a pool of his own blood in the forest, and now I was even more stunned just by being in his presence. I didn’t know what to say, so I remained silent.

I took a deep breath and, with as much dignity as I could muster, tried to answer his question.

"My name is Seraphina." I said, my voice barely more than a whisper.

I cleared my throat and tried to make my voice steady. "M-My name is Seraphina. I-I uh saw you in the forest, and you were covered in b-blood. I had to help you."

Really?! Sera? Bakit ka nauutal? I should talk to him normal baka mahalata niya pa na may alam ako!

My words seemed to tumble through the air, the atmosphere in the room suddenly tense. Damian stared at me coldly, making me suddenly uneasy and very conscious.

"Where are we?"

"Uh- nasa bahay kita."

Kumunot ang noo niya kaya nakagat ko ang labi ko. Galit ba siya? Nakita ko naman ang pagbaba ng mata niya papuntang labi ko.

Bumalik muli ang mata niya at tumitig sa akin. Nakita ko pa ang pag diin ng kaniyang panga.

"This is my house" I said matter-of-factly, indicating to the trees around us. He raised an eyebrow skeptically, so I elaborated with, "I live here, in the forest. In the mountain actually."

He seemed to contemplate that for a moment. "Interesting," he said, his tone still cold.

Napalunok naman ako at hindi hinahayaang makita o maramdamanan niya na kinakabahan ako.

"Why did you bring me here?."  he asked finally.

"Hindi ko alam kung saan pa kita dadalhin, at isa pa... Sabi mo don't let anyone know" sagot ko nang tapat at sa mahinang boses.

"You were unconscious and I didn't want to just leave you in the forest."

"You help me on your own?

The coldness in Damian's voice startled me, ngunit sinikap ko na manatiling kalmado.

I shook my head and replied, "No, I'm not the only one who helped you, but I'm the only one living here." Tumikhim naman ako pagtapos dahil parang may nakabara sa lalamunan ko. He's handsome yet really scary.
