(An alternate ending to this story, where Alex agrees to go back in time, effectively destroying this timeline and stopping Morgan from killing him.)

They had been arguing about it for hours. To the point where Morgan had exhausted all their points three times over and Alex was sick of hearing his own voice for once. They had hit another lull, Morgan curled up on Alex's lap, tilted to have their ear pressed against his chest to listen to his heartbeat. Sniffling slightly after their latest tirade had them breaking down again. Alex wouldn't have been surprised if Morgan's skin started to crack like porcelain with how broken they looked.

Morgan didn't let their silence last for long. 'But what if-'

Alex cringed, 'Morgan please.'

'I know what you're saying,' Morgan said. 'I do. But please just consider it. Properly.'

Alex sighed, closing his eyes and nodded. 'Go on then.'

Morgan sat up slightly, clearing their throat and taking a calming breath. 'Every day since the attack happened I've wanted to take back what I did. What she did, whatever. I can make myself the strongest villain in the world now, but that doesn't mean anything when I can't undo what happened.'

Alex opened his eyes, feeling his heart break when he saw the grief and regret on Morgan's face. 'Mo...'

'I would give all of this up in a heartbeat,' Morgan said, turning back to Alex, 'if it meant that I never had to lose you. I don't, I don't ask for anything big. I don't ask you to heal me or tear up the banks or anything.'

'This is more than big though,' Alex said. 'I would have to unwrite a year. From everyone. You would be D tier again, Monday wouldn't exist, Barnaby and Ohio would need to propose again. There is so much.'

'There's nothing wrong with being D tier,' Morgan smiled sadly, 'As long as I'm facing a D tier threat. As long as people don't use me to come after you, I'm good. I can tell you where I found Monday and I can build her again. And if you go back you can see the way they announced their engagement yourself, it was the sappiest way you could go about it-' Alex raised his hand and Morgan faltered, sinking back down onto the sofa and waiting for Alex to respond.

It was a terrible idea. Alex knew it. A thousand things could go wrong with this, and there would be no chance of do-overs. He could erase too much, or not enough. He could splinter the timeline into two paths. He shouldn't be considering it. And if it wasn't for the desperation and fear in Morgan's face he wouldn't. But Morgan was pleading, they basically had been for hours at this point.

Alex licked his lips, 'There would be no do-overs.'

'I don't care,' Morgan shook their head. 'I wouldn't want one.'

Alex looked at them, 'You wouldn't exist. Not, not like you do now.'

Fresh tears sprang up in Morgan's eyes and their lip quivered, 'Good. I don't...I...' they took a deep breath, letting it out slowly to calm down, and looked past Alex at one of their old posters. 'I miss them. The old me. I miss Barnaby being my archnemesis, and those kids with the talking cat, and the farmer's market.' They looked back at Alex, voice shaking as they carried on. 'I wouldn't know what it was like to rip someone's heart out of their chest with a snap of my fingers. I...I missed you for the past year, every day. But I've missed the old us even more.'

A tear finally fell down Alex's cheek, and he swallowed down the worst of the emotions that would crack his voice. 'I...I'll think about it.'

The reaction was instant. The fear in Morgan's eyes vanished as hope flashed through them. Picking up their shoulders, stilling the tremble in their hands, brightening their face as a small smile curled across their lips, 'You will?' Alex nodded and Morgan covered their mouth to try and hold back a laugh, chin quivering again. Alex pulled them closer for a hug, and Morgan leaned in, wrapping their arms around him so tightly. 'Thank you,' Morgan whispered.
