This was going better than expected, Morgan thought to themselves as an energy drained Aceman staggered away, practically hiding behind the newcomer. The Amazonian. She doesn't use throwing weapons . Morgan glanced around, grinning at a familiar black clad vigilante perched on the corner of the building. Three of the big hitters already? Wow, these heroes are easy to rile up.

'I've got a reading of five more heroes teleporting in, a dozen more en route,' Joey said in their comms. 'Also a new reading, not registered on any of our records.'

That stopped Morgan in their tracks, to the point they nearly missed The Amazonian charge at them, teleporting away just in time, 'Keep an eye on that. Is Monday back yet?'

'No, should I check on her?'

Morgan powered up their gauntlets, gathering energy into their hands as more heroes filed in onto the rooftop and surrounding sky. 'Maybe after we've thinned the ranks.'

The Amazonian charged first, sword and shield raised, and Morgan just rolled their eyes. Predictable really. A press of a button turned on their telekinesis, and then Morgan was dodging, a forcefield bouncing the Amazonian away and making her stumble. A beep in their ear warned of an attack from behind and Morgan raised their hands to catch three more of the Vigilante's throwing stars. Grinning wildly, Morgan spun the stars up, only to flick their wrist and send them flying out at three unsuspecting heroes. Which sent something snapping in the heroes' ranks, and they all charged at once.

Morgan teleported, into the air first to watch the carnage of the fastest heroes crashing into each other, and then back onto a corner of the roof, switching telekinesis to plasma blasts and aiming squarely for a couple of the flyers. The attacks didn't need to connect, just needed to leave them disjointed enough to fire wildly on Morgan's location, taking out chunks of concrete and brick where Morgan had already vanished from.

Another warning came through their comms and Morgan ducked, spinning away from an attack at normal speed but with a lot of power behind it, a flash of blue and red and white stars and- 'Ah,' Morgan said, 'I was wondering when you would show up.'

Leader USA glared at them, barely giving the other heroes a glance, 'Alright Heart Stealer. You've made your point.'

'Have I though?' Morgan chuckled and teleported away, giving Leader USA only a second to raise his shield and block an energy blast. 'What is my point exactly?' Morgan called out, now halfway across the rooftop and with new combatants stepping in. A lance of lightning came in and Morgan simply caught it, white energy in their gauntlet glowing as the attack was drained of power and channelled to the power cells.

Leader USA threw his shield like a discus at Morgan's head, only for Morgan to catch it and send it flying into another hero, as USA yelled, 'You've had your pound of flesh and then some! And for what? None of it brought S back!'

Morgan's manic smile dropped then, turning their full attention to USA, 'If that's what you think this is about then clearly I haven't made my point.'

Leader USA snarled in frustration and thrust out an arm, summoning the shield to his hand again, 'You carry on down this path and there will be no redemption for you.'

'Good.'

USA blinked in shock, 'What about your sister? What would that do to her?'

Morgan threw up a shield as more attacks came in and sent them spiralling back to their respective heroes, 'Maybe worry about your own relationship with her before you start lecturing me on mine. I'm not the one in couple's therapy after all.'

Leader USA shook his head and braced with his shield, flicking a button for a ring of red light to ring the metal.

The first time Morgan had seen that shield was when Dodgers was in his wedding suit, the rose on his lapel askew and his face twisted into all sorts of wonderful expressions as Alex presented him with a heavily dented shakanium shield and then a new one, complete with a garish bow in the centre, and Alex's small laugh as he said, 'It's got lasers.'
