The Moby Dick smashes against a rough surface launching the nurses forward as well as Ace and I. Though we kept our balance better than the nurses as we only took a few steps forward to stabilize ourselves whereas the nurses fell to the floor in piles or physically rolled away from each other.
"Woah!" Ace huffs out readjusting his orange cowboy hat. "Talk about a rough landing."
With the ship not moving I make my way to the main part of the deck and beside Ace. "Did they need to push us right against the shore?" I complain and suddenly notice something strange he was doing. I furrow my eyebrows not being able to resist asking. "Why are you sniffing like that?"
His nose is upturned and his nostrils enlarged. His nose makes noises as he violently sucks up the air. How was he able to store that much oxygen in his mouth? I mean he barely took breaks to exhale that could not be confortable.
"The air. It smells..." He ponders for a moment. "Sweet. Like candy."
The fog around the island started to clear up and from the vague shapes I could make out, it certainly looked like household treats or something children actively looked for in stores. "I think I know why. The fogs clearing up. Look at the island." I point at it with my pointer finger.
Ace turns towards the island just as all the fog cleared up and could see it perfectly. There a peace and serenity surrounding him like a blanket. "It's... its..." his face melts into one of pure happiness, "perfect."
"An island made of candy." I state looking at the lollipop trees, candy bushes, gumdrop grass and random large candy canes sticking up from the ground. It's like walking into a child's dream and a dentists worst nightmare. "Don't eat anything, you don't know what it'll do to your insides or if this sea demon will sense us." I sternly warn him.
"I make zero promises." There's sparkles in his eyes as he doesn't take them off the island.
"Mhm," I place my hands on my hip and sigh. "I guess that's the most I can ask for out of you. We should head down and start searching."
Footsteps approached us and I turn to find Sandy in her typical nurse uniform holding one of my bags out for me. "Here, we packed some things for you." She holds it out gripping the straps of the white bag a little tightly.
I take it from her as she hastily lets go. "Thanks."
A protectiveness overtakes me and I motion for all the nurses to gather around us. They do as I say without any resistance or hesitation which was to be expected because I'm a division commander. If I wasn't there probably would've been a little resistance and not nearly as much trust as I've gained a lot with them.
"You guys will watch the ship while we're gone." I order. "Don't step a foot on the island and if anything strange happens here—"
"We'll call you." Imnata, one of the girls who have been here longer says. "We got this y/n. Also your wig and mask are in there just in case."
I nod in appreciation. "Great. C'mon Ace." I tell him while jumping off the ship and landing on the island. My black boots hitting the sand as my leather dress riddled with pendants and dangly jewelry adorned my body.
"You're not putting it on now?" Ace asks landing beside me.
"I will while we're walking. I need to put my hair up first." I explain while rustling through the bag and bringing my mask and wig to the top of the bag and also accessing what else was in there.
