10 years in the Past.
"Amazing! It seems as though these Phylum Mollusca have a large amount of dormant energy that can be released through max velocity. Is that what you're trying to tell me, Will?"
Doc Saturday, the primary patriarch of the Saturdy household and lead cryptozoologistist for the Secret Scients, was currently on a brief excursion through the Hudden Caverns. A society thousands of feet below the average human on loonker. And right now, he was currently examining a yellow and blue slug like creature for research purposes.
Will: Heh, you most certainly have a way with words, Doc. But yeah, these Slugs really are some powerful little guys. That's kind of why I've decided to put all my time and effort into protecting this place.
Doc Saturday: (puts Slug onto his shoulder) You know we could still use you. Back at Skyway Patrol I mean. Hasn't exactly been the same, without you Will. The world's gotten pretty strange over the past few years, and it's only gonna get a whole lot stranger.
Will: Maybe, but the people of Slugterra still need me. It always needed the help of the Shanes. And I don't exactly know how, but I have a feeling that I've gotta prepare for whatever big threat is gonna hit the Thousand Caverns next.
Doc: (sighs) Fair point. But what about, Eli? He still needs a father, Will.
Will Shane looks away from his oldest friend to take in what he said. Should he tell him of what the Shadow Clan had warned him of? Of the threats that lied ahead for him and his son? Is that the kind of future in store for his family? And what kind of man will his boy become in spite of it all?
Doc: HEY! EARTH TO WILL?! You doing alright there, old friend?
Will: (small chuckle) Sorry Doc, just a bit lost in thought is all. (Sighs) Maybe you're right. My son needs me in his life. Both of our sons need their fathers. And I guess I'm just worried about messing it all up.
Doc: Oh cheer up, William. You can't nail a working scientific theory on the first try. It's gonna take some time, and you're obviously gonna mess up in a few places. But trust me, you'll get it right pal. Think of it as a teaching moment.
Will: Heh, never really thought of it that way, Doc. Speaking of a learning experience...
Will Shane then showed off a prototype Slug Blaster he was working on.
Will: (smirks) Wanna learn how to actually SLING a Slug? Wouldn't hurt to give it a spin Doc?
Doc then looked to the Slug on his shoulder and then to his friend.
Doc: I don't know. I believe this is strictly a RESEARCH based excursion.
Will: Relax Doc, remember what you said. It's all trial and error. Plus if I can teach you, then I sure as hell can teach Eli. Now c'mon, let's get Sluggin'!
