"C'mon Okarun, pick up the pace!"
"Give me a break babe, I'm trying my best here~"
Two teenagers were currently chasing after a fiery red spirit hopping across the roofs of the Japanese suburbs: Momo Ayase, the psychic in training and Ken Takakura, the boy who was the current hist of the legendary Turbo Granny's power....who was also letting the aforementioned Momo Ayase piggyback ride on him as they raced after their target. The boy's long white hair trailed like smoke as he turned through tricky corners with the assistance of Ayase's powers.
Soeaking of Momo, she was currently tossing trash cans and debris at the hopping spitmrit as it made it's way to the cemetery. She groaned as she kept missing
Okarun! Do you think you can corner this guy?!
I can...if I got a ramp.
Momo looked around and smirked as she saw a news stand
"Do you trust me?~"
You never have to ask, babe~
Ayase smiled as her cheeks turned red. She then focused on the news stand and tore it apart with her powers. She then used the newspapers to create a runway that Okarun ran across into the sky.
Paper trail, huh? Nice~
Okarun look! We're outpacing him!
Right at the spot he's gunning for. Let's go~
Momo nodded as she tilted the paper trail down as Okarun sped towards the Cemetery. The two parties came barreling at their destination, resulting in a powerful crash that sent both of them flying. Momo hit her back into a gravestone while Ken, or Okarun in this case, rolled onto the ground as his clothes became charred from the direct collision.
He sat up slowly and looked to his side to see Ayase in pain
Miss Ayase!
His hair slicked down and turned black as he pushed up his glasses and ran to her. Momo coughed as she let Okarun help her up.
"I'm fine, O. We should be worrying about.....THE SPIRIT!"
Momo pointed over to the spirit as it slowly walked to the grave stone they were at. Okarun got infront of momo and stared the fiery being down, his footsteps burning the grass beneath him. Atase winced in pain as she shook Okarun
"Okarun, get out if the way! Your powers are kapoot right now! You can't!"
"I won't let hi.hurt you, Miss Ayase! Powers or no powers....I'll stand my ground for you!"
Ayase looked away and blushed
"D-Damn nerd..."
She pushed past him and stood next to hi. As she created psychic fists
"Don't toss away your life like teach, moron! We do this together!"
Okarun smiled as he put his fists up and stared down at the spirit before them. The burning spirit walked towards them ...and walked past them as he headed to a grave further down. They looked at each confused before they followed it. The spirit went up to a grave and sat down as it prayed. The two teens looked on in morbid fascination for a few minutes before the burning man stood up and looked back at them. Okarun was the first to speak.
"W-What do you want?! Are you an alien? Demon?"
.....Justice burns. Evil....lies still.
Ayase raised her brow as she spoke up
"That doesn't answer his question."
The fiery man flew off into the sky and left a fiery trail behind him as Okarun ran after him
"Hey wait! We need to....talk..."
"No use Okarun. The guy doesn't wanna talk...that behavior isn't unusual for spirits...."
"But he's a vigilante spirit, Miss Ayase! You saw those reports of burned up criminals! I need to know his story."
"Exactly Okarun! He turned those criminals into corpses! He could've killed you!"
Touches her back and winced
"Think he killed any chances of me walking straight..."
Okarun sighed
I know that. But it's just...another SUPERHERO IM JAPAN! Like Ultraman or Devilman! We haven't seen one like that in years!
Gasps
What if he's a pyronite? WHAT IF HE'S BEN TENNYSON?!
As Okarun scampered around and continued to ramble, Ayase couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. The way he beamed when he talked about his special interests always made her feel warm inside. It's why she became his friend...it's why she lov-
"Miss Yase? You've been staring at me for a while."
Ayase turned beet red as she looked away
"Just thinking about that spirit! We still don't know who's side he's on...."
"....Soulfire."
Ayase raised her brow as she watched Okarun adjust his glasses
"If we're gonna keep running into him...he needs a name. Right?"
"Yeah....good thinking Okarun."
As Ayase reassured Okarun she started to hobble a bit while walking. Before she could continue, Onarun came up beside her and held her arm around his shoulder as he helped her walk. Ayse looked at him as he shyly smiled at her. They both chuckled as they started to walk out of the cemetery amd towards Ayase's home.
Unbeknownst to them, the spirit know referred to as Soulfure watched them from a nearby building. Love. Companionship. Belonging. These were the things thismysterious spirit missed from life, a life ripped away from him on that day....the day he tried to be a hero. When he died he left his past in San Fransokyo behind....returned back to his original home to do what he couldn't do before his passing: deliver justice to the guilty.
As he jumped across buildings he sighed as he thought back to his recent visit of his parents' grave. Not just their graves....but the graves of all who fell at the hands of evil. But most importantly....he thinks back to his brother he left behind. The brother he hoped and prayed would be safe with his creation. But that's just a thought. Just a fantasy playing out in his head. For tonight, and all other nights, he would make his dream of a peaceful world a reality. And he would do it....as a hero.
