Pull It

KATES POV:

This is it.

I've been trying to prepare for this the past few weeks, but this hurts so much more than I could've ever imagined.

It's actually happening.

I have practically lived in this hospital room since the wreck and it's unsettling to know that soon I won't have to anymore.

"Ms. Harrington, we need to talk about the position we are in."

I just nod my head, because my mouth is completely dry and it hurts to talk.

"His physical scars are healing, but his brain tissue and the blood in his brain isn't. I'm sorry."

"What do we do?" I've practiced saying that sentence the past few days,because I probably would've panicked and ran out the room.

"We'll let you stay for awhile and you can say you're goodbyes."

"Then?"

"We pull the plug."

We pull the plug.

Not really knowing what to do I stand up tell her I'm getting Dex and I'll be back soon.

As I pull up I see Dex and Tyler playing some video game and laughing because Dex is whipping his ass.

"Ha I win again!" I can't help but laugh at the way Dex is dancing.

"Hey Dex we need to talk."

"About hitting your car with the golf cart I'm so sorry! In my defense you never taught me how to drive it!"

"No not that, but we're going to go back to that later."

He just sits on the couch and wait for me to continue.

"Dex, Dad really hasn't been on a business trip this whole time. In fact he's been in town all along."

"Where is he? I miss him! Can we please go see him?"

"Before we do I need to tell you something. The night he left he got in a serious car wreck. He has been in the hospital ever since. That's why we were there that night. I was't going to tell you if he got better but..."

"What?" He seems so confused and it breaks my heart more and more.

"He's going away Dex and we need to say our goodbyes so we can let him move on."

"Where's he going to go?"
