The Devil

TYLERS POV:

Oh god why did I say that, I was just messing with her like I do with my friends but I forgot she doesn't know me that well.

I mean don't get me wrong, my mom's dead, but I joke about it to cope with it. It's fucked up but it helps.

When she doesn't reply I feel so bad. I don't know if I should call her or just wait.

"Screw it.", I mutter as I start to call her.

"Hello?"

She sounds so nervous and guilty.

"Hey.."

Wow way to make her feel more comfortable.

"I'm so sorry Tyler I didn't know.."

I reply a little too fast and say,"No, Kate it's fine she died when I was a baby so I didn't know her."

"Yeah but it's still not something to joke about."

Well this is going worse than expected.

"Do you want to know how she died?" Oh my god I sound like I'm a grandpaw ready to tell his grandson a goodnight story.

"If you're comfortable talking about it." For some reason the fact she said that warmed my heart.

"Yeah it's fine. She died having me and there was nothing they could do."

This conversation just keeps on going downhill.

"I'm so sorry Tyler.."

I just shrug my shoulders as if she could see it and say,"It's alright I've moved past it I mean we all have our own shit we have to deal with."

She just bitterly laughs and says,"Amen."

After a moment of awkward silence she decides to say goodnight and hang up.

Okay so I guess the mother subject does not need to be touched from both of our families. At least we have something in common.

KATES POV:

When I wake up I smell my dad's wonderful bacon and waffles.

Starting the day off right.

When I go downstairs I noticed my brothers already getting a sugar high and is on the verge of having diabetes.

"Goodmorning Daddy and ugly.",I say as I go to get food, but my dad takes my plate away and says,"Apologize or no food."
