Chapter 16: View From Above

-Kai / Oshi no Ko Universe-

Kai is now eating at a new restaurant, one that has many recommendations. Lucky for him, they are serving a buffet for all you can eat. For the restaurant, unlucky.

Having just devoured his 40th plate, he showed no signs of stopping. The other patrons in the restaurant cast uneasy glances his way, their expressions a mix of disbelief and concern. Even the chefs and waitstaff appeared apprehensive. Thankfully, Kai had donned a disguise before entering, preventing anyone from recognizing him.

"Huh, thanks for the food," he said, patting his belly contentedly. As he looked around, he realized that all eyes were on him.

"Ermm, I'm feeling awkward right now..." he thought to himself as he approached the register to pay and exited the restaurant. The kitchen staff breathed a sigh of relief as the "monster eater" finally left their establishment.

After wandering aimlessly in the park, Kai decided to take a break and do some egosurfing. He settled onto a bench and pulled out his phone, noticing a flurry of missed calls and messages from Director Taishi.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell him about my little trip... He probably wanted me to edit some things. Well, better call him now," Kai said to himself as he dialed Taishi's number, but the call didn't go through.

"Is he filming right now? He did mention that if he doesn't answer, he's either busy or sleeping," he shrugged, dismissing the concern.

"Better continue with some egosurfing..." Kai muttered as he opened Twitter and searched for himself.

He stumbled upon a video of his blooper reel from his first acting gig in a drama called Teen Days. The memory made him chuckle; he recalled the scene vividly. As a side character, he was supposed to be eating noodles while walking toward the main character but tripped over his own feet. In a last-ditch effort, he managed to balance himself by performing an impromptu handstand, but the noodles ended up cascading onto the main character's head instead.

Watching the clip again brought back laughter. He felt fortunate that the main character had taken it in stride, and even the director found humor in it, allowing it to be included in the blooper reel.

Kai smiled when reading the comments. He had fun doing this acting stuff. Thanks to Director, he was introduced to this industry.

He then typed Gaia in his search bar. A civilian nearby had recorded Shallot and him fighting Turles and Slug. He tapped the video and watched it.

ANOTHER 'HERO' APPEARED IN TOKYO?

The video showed Kai and Shallot charging up their final attack to end the battle.

"WILD CANNON!!"

"GALICK CANNON!!"

The two of them released their blast as it clashed against Turles' and Lord Slug's beams, until it eventually overpowered them and consumed the time breakers.
